Tucked next to a small pond, this house faces the ocean in Rhode Island. The Owners wanted a snug coastal house that would still work for their extended family’s vacations. They were looking for a casual house that echoed the New England traditional details of the beautiful community. Numerous open and closed porches, decks, and trellis wrap the house and garage. Shingle style details tie the house to it historic neighbors. The house was limited to a specific footprint to keep it out of flood zones. Inside the living spaces flow into one another for easy, open summer living for an active family. Storage is tucked everywhere. A back entrance corrals sand tracked in from the beach before it gets in the house. Robert Brewster Photography

A spa-inspired master bathroom that boasts refreshing neutrals, glamorous metallics, and a subtle wall mural. We gave the walk-in shower a herringbone tiled niche and relaxing shower bench for aesthetic and comfort. For the vanity, we decided to go with a simple design with open shelving and two large medicine cabinets. The metallic and textured sink gives the vanity a powerful statement, adding a bit of trend and a burst of personality. Project designed by Courtney Thomas Design in La Cañada. Serving Pasadena, Glendale, Monrovia, San Marino, Sierra Madre, South Pasadena, and Altadena. The existing 90 square foot galley kitchen was small and narrow, with limited storage and counterspace. By utilizing the hallway and master closet opposite, we expanded the kitchen across the hall, creating a 5’-6”x 2’-0”x 7’-0” niche for the Subzero refrigerator and under counter wine storage unit. The existing kitchen doorway was widened to unify the two spaces. Separating the tall elements from the original galley, the new design was able to provide uninterrupted counterspace and extra storage. Because of its proximity to the living area, the niche is also able to serve a dual role as an easily accessible bar with glass storage above when the client is entertaining. Modern, high-gloss cabinetry was extended to the ceiling, replacing the existing traditional millwork and capitalizing on previously unused space. An existing breakfast nook with a view of the East River, which had been one of the client’s favorite features, was awkwardly placed and provided for tight and uncomfortable seating. We rebuilt the banquettes, pushing them back for easier access and incorporating hidden storage compartments into the seats.

Completely bespoke from beginning to end, this master bathroom is wonderful and feels like that in a hotel. Marble flooring and the herringbone tiles in the steam shower were water laser cut, for extreme precision.

past the public sink vanity you enter this private wet room...made private by the frosted glass entry door that allows light in but masks the room inside.

Since Taiwan is facing the low fertility issue, the team has noticed that instead of doing fancy design, creating and focusing on the senior-friendly home would be an advanced and primary market in the future. "A senior-friendly home" does not mean, putting the aids full of the home, but considering more about the dignity. They realized this point! But how? This project main designer - Kuan says: Creating the thoughtful space without reminding them - "This function is for you." Because even they need the supports, they hope there are no differences with others. Therefore, the senior-friendly homes they create will just look like other homes. On the other hands, they also can be sustainable, design the homes without any concern in the future life,

A modern design for a small, compact bathroom. We integrated crisp whites through the uniquely shaped porcelain vanity and subway tile shower walls. Natural stone tiles were used on the shower floor for a bit of an earthy contrast to the mostly white interior. Designed by Chi Renovation & Design who serve Chicago and it's surrounding suburbs, with an emphasis on the North Side and North Shore. You'll find their work from the Loop through Lincoln Park, Skokie, Wilmette, and all the way up to Lake Forest. For more about Chi Renovation & Design, click here: https://www.chirenovation.com/

This was a total master bath renovation. The owners closet used to be where the jet tub is and the walls were all expanded slightly into adjoining rooms. For a truly spa like effect, travertine was used throughout for floors, walls, accents, trim, counters and sinks. All shower and plumbing fixtures are antique bronze.
