A new home needs some time for the landscape to mature, however this house backs onto a greenbelt, so the clients have nature at their door step. An avid gardener and nature lover, this client asked for a lap pool, outdoor shower, patio area, veggie garden and outdoor kitchen area. She received everything plus a water feature and a small pool house with a powder room. Materials include natural stone walls & raised planter, sand-etch concrete and patio slab inlays. Metal containers are used for the veggie garden in the side yard.
Just in Thyme Landscape Design
The clients wanted to remove their pool & create a woodland garden from a hot, yard of Yuccas & Palms. We added several large trees & this meandering pondless stream surrounded be lush woodland plantings. Just the sound of the water makes you feel cooler!
Twisted Rock Terrascape & Design, Inc.
Our client wanted a natural Rundle rock waterfall in the backyard and a Rundle flagstone patio & sitting area in the front. From there we connected the front to back utilizing large Rundle slab steps and completed the project with large Spruce trees and various other plantings in large beds with concrete edging to keep it low maintenance and at the same time having beautiful curb appeal!!
Painted Fern Garden Design
A third of an acre garden that had barely changed from when the owners moved in 30 years ago and sadly, due to Honey Fungus, had lost a number of trees over the years with others also in poor health.
As with so many of our client’s gardens, the existing planting that was in the garden didn’t offer much interest beyond spring. My clients were looking for an opportunity to garden and make better use of their plot. They were looking to have an area for their grandchildren to play in and were interested in adding a child-friendly water feature.
The topography of the site provided a gentle drop in level running across the width of the garden. This enabled an obvious location to site a water rill with the upper level providing a viewpoint to position a bench. Carefully positioned new borders were then placed to offer some division to the garden, whilst still allowing a connection of the individual spaces.
In order to span the seasons with the planting we positioned a border half-way down the garden. The planting scheme here whilst looking good all year round, was designed specifically with winter in mind and was sited to be viewed from the kitchen window.
A group of four Stewartia pseudocamellia trees were planted to act as structural features surrounding the water rill and would offer interest from buds, flowers, bark and foliage, whilst also being Honey Fungus resistant.
Garden Riot
We designed a beautiful patio ideal for family get-togethers, featuring floating steps that traverse a cascading waterfall leading to a serene pond built to encourage visiting frogs. A set of dynamic curved steps meanders down through tall grasses, guiding you to a collection of classic Oregon berries perfect for summer pies. The garden culminates in a tranquil stroll among wooded vine maples, offering a shaded retreat to sit and watch the pollinators sip on all the new perennial plants and grasses.

The Amendola Group, Inc.
This wonderful stone cape nestled on 10 plus acres—located in the countryside of the Hudson Valley region of NY— is home to a property that was entirely re-invented. Together with the vision of a very design-savvy client, the Amendola team transformed this property into what you see below. The photos will take you from conception to completion, resulting in an outdoor living space that can be used throughout all four seasons.
