Lagois Design Build RenovateThis addition and extensive interior renovation optimizes front and rear river views, natural light and indoor / outdoor integration. The use of craftsman detailing – adding a front porch – makes this home naturally inviting, functional and extremely livable.
The design was challenged due to the waterfront lot restrictions, lot coverage restrictions (car port instead of garage), slope stability challenges and septic restrictions (only 15% of existing footprint was allowed). The rear eating area / sunroom addition was built on pillars to achieve septic clearances. The second storey addition utilized sloped ceilings, which finished at 10 ft. in order to create spacial volume. Open to below areas allow more sunlight in and help achieve square footage requirements. The carport helped meet lot coverage restrictions, but more importantly, helped lessen the environmental impact. Driveways and walkways feature natural stone for water runoff.
The home exceeded the design objectives by maintaining formal entertaining, by eliminating walls and organizing spaces, creating comfortable family areas and by introducing natural light throughout the home.

This young family owns a home in Ganesha Hills in Pomona. After living with “apartment” furniture for a couple of years, they decided it was time to upgrade and invest in furnishings that were more suited to their taste and lifestyle. Family friendly and comfortable, but still stylish, is what was requested. I achieved that by selecting quality/durable pieces of furniture for the foundation of the room and then decorated with accessories that have a bit of a “glam” factor, which can easily be changed out when they want a new look. I designed a custom wood bar top with steel supports for seating at the kitchen peninsula. Before there was no seating in the kitchen. This helps join the kitchen and family room and provides a spot for the kids to eat and do homework. The fireplace was updated with a new custom wood mantle and matching hearth. I had the walls painted from a yellow to a neutral greige. Custom window coverings include grey silk drapes in the family room and pleated Roman shades in the kitchen. For a bit of added sparkle, I replaced the 2 existing pendants with 2 mini chandeliers over the peninsula. The overall look is family friendly, but stylish with a bit of sparkle. Valerie Grant InteriorsFamily game room with with a full service auxiliary kitchen. Custom cabinetry contains refrigerator, oven, micro wave oven, garbage, beverage storage and dishwasher. Sectional sofa provides comfortable seating in front of the fireplace and TV. A sofa table doubles as seating for dining or watching the game.
AV Performance InnovationsThis elegant bar area features a recessed and mounted television and in ceiling speakers that create a true listening experience. This rooms television, sound lights and shades can all be controlled with the touch of a button on your handheld device.
McNary ConstructionIn the family room which opens from the kitchen, we continued with the wainscoating and added the woven bamboo blinds to the new windows. We used all of the clients own furniture and art work transferred from other rooms and just added the sisal rug.
EDC INTERIORS INCPhoto by John Rippons. This first floor family room gives the family a fun, easy space to entertain guests or a place for the kids to hang out with their friends. We designed the custom built-in to accommodate the squid light fixture in a way that was fun and functional.
