Modern geometric nursery for a hip Chicago baby. This room had one main challenge - it was located in a rental unit and walls could not be painted or modified. The windows face a brick wall and the room begged for brightness and color. By using custom vinyl wall decals, color and interest were added transforming the room into a multi-colored, kid-friendly oassis with a modern feel.

Putting the child's name above the bed is such a great thing to see for the parents. As the kids get older, you can teach them that is their name. Also but stars on the ceiling for the baby to look at while in bed.

Floorplan Rugs
As pros paid to imagine what's next for the auto industry, Megan and Steve are used to thinking about the future, and designing the room they wanted for their first child was no different. Whether a luggage rack upcycled as a base for baskets or a two-sided, organic mattress meant to last for years, they were seeking wares they would grow into, not out of. They wanted a rug that would do the same thing, and they turned to Floorplan's In-Home Rug Preview for help.
You may be thinking, a hand-knotted rug in a nursery?! Yes! This kind of handmade rug was designed to withstand the chaos of an active life, and can generally be spot-cleaned, thoroughly cleaned by professionals and even repaired.

Chic + Modern, neutral + sophisticated. We wanted this Baby Girl nursery to be one that anyone would want to live in. Pairing a mid century modern style gray crib with a colorful tribal area rug. Layering in modern furniture pieces with sweet subtle accents.

The clients hoped to achieve a calm feel in this nursery, as well as a look that could grow along with their son. The choice of clean lines and fresh colors provide the crisp, updated feel, while the choice of depicting woodland animals in a realistic way (as opposed to a "cartoonish" approach) means that the little inhabitant of this room can appreciate the design as his tastes become more sophisticated.

D. Buckley Design
Lindsay and her husband Geoff have a new home in Washington D.C. and needed to transform the extra room in to a space suitable for their new little addition. I was excited to take on the project, using Lindsay's beloved childhood stuffed penguin 'Pengi' as a starting point for inspiration. With an arctic-cool color palette, some great Etsy finds, and a little elbow grease, the room came together perfectly: a modern, arctic nursery for their little boy August. Complete with penguins, of course.

The custom made artwork by Portia brings in jut the right amount of the accent color to liven up the gray pallet. The chevron pattern in the curtain and bumper pad brings a contemporary feel the the once very outdated room.

This cute little girl is holding one of Sprout's eco-friendly, 100% recyclable bird print storage bins. They are just the right size for diapers, wipes, clothes, and all the other necessities that come with small children. The bird print is super cute in a kids room, and even looks great in other parts of the house, especially when used together with Sprout's compatible Cubby storage bookcases.
