FA Design Build
The kitchen features European-style, frame-less cabinets in natural cherry. By eliminating the soffits, we were able to increase the overall height and storage capacity. Oil rubbed bronze was selected for all finishes. The flooring is Marmoleum tile, in color Butter -- a "green" alternative that offers durability, unique design, and easy cleaning. The undercabinet lighting showcases the Cambria Aberdeen quartz countertop, which offers rare beauty and is the centerpiece of the kitchen. The colorfulness of the countertop is balanced with a solid-colored glass tile for the backsplash.

I shot the Summer House for decorative artist Miles Negus Fancy design.
In 2010, Miles became an Industry Partner for the British Institute of Interior Design serving as one of 4 accredited muralists. In 2012, Miles travelled to Japan to work with several shikkui plasterers under the guiding hand of Nobuyoshi Yukihira san, president of the Shikkui Association and Tagawa Sangyo, Japan's leading manufacturer of shikkui lime plaster. Miles is one of the few UK based, japanese trained practioners of shikkui polished plaster, he is an approved applicator.

Our clients found that the kitchen layout didn’t function well and that the storage space was lacking. We opened up the space by removing a small wall separating the dining room and kitchen and then adding a support beam. The chimney was exposed on all sides, adding warmth and character. Moving the refrigerator and adding the peninsula allowed for more countertop work space. The microwave was taken off the counter and hidden in the peninsula, along with added cabinets. Combined with a tall pantry the kitchen now has more storage.
A new ceiling allowed for pot lights and two new pendants over the counter, making the once gloomy kitchen now bright.

Project Mint Developments
This is the basement suite of a Grandview development that features a spacious 4-bedroom high-end home built over a 1-bed suite [accessible from the house] and an independent 2-bed/2-bath apartment.
It was constructed from pre-fabricated Structual Insulated Panels. This, and other highly innovative construction technologies put the building in a class of its own regarding performance and sustainability. The structure has been seismically-upgraded, and materials have been selected to stand the test of time. The design is strikingly modern but respectful, and the layout is expectionally practical and efficient.
The house is on a steep hill, providing views of the north-shore mountains from all floors. The large rooftop deck has panoramic views of the city. The open-plan living/dining room opens out onto a large south-facing deck.

This marvelous kitchen was a true challenge for space planning. The house was built in 1927. The original kitchen held the laundry, stove, a small icebox and an even smaller pantry. I created a comfortable peninsula for mingling while food is prepared. The William and Morris wallpaper on the ceiling was added to tie into the original wallpaper which is in the Butler's pantry next to the kitchen. Hand made tiles are used on the backsplash. A Spanish accent tile is used on the front of the peninsula. The Deckton countertop is more contemporary, being a lot thinner, and absolutely indestructible. The edge profile was intentionally thought out. I wanted it to look like the profile of a carved lion on an antique furniture piece. The beams were added to the ceiling and were also custom-created. I had the builder, Finish Point Cabinetry, channel the wood in the beam so that we could place LED lighting within them.
