Previously an unused fully tiled shower room we stripped back to the existing stone walls and reinuslated and plastered. Reinstalled period plaster cornice and timber skirtings. Bespoke built-in bookshelves, home bar, and recess display. Procured antique navy leather topped desk and gilt convex mirror. The room houses the owners extensive art collection and sports a high gloss ochre ceiling to reflect light on the dark saturated navy blue walls. A dark oak shutter keeps light out to make the space easy to work in for video meetings. New pure wool cream carpet for softness underfoot as well as a new cast iron antiqued pewter radiator for warmth.

The Happiest Office design was created for our full-time remote working client. They asked us to convert their camper into an office, that could easily convert back to a camper for weekend adventures. We took inspiration from the punchy orange exterior of the Happier Camper and added even more California flair to it with an amazing (and fully removable) poppy wallpaper. We wanted to create a secondary space for our client, so that she could have a change of scenery mid-day or space to relax in-between calls and soak up the CA rays. We designed a cozy sitting area out back, with a pair of black modern rocking chairs and black and white rug. On cooler days, work gets done with the back hatch open looking out onto her outdoor living room, essentially doubling the size of her office space. The monochromatic outdoor furniture design is accented with hints of orange and yellow, and an embroidered poppy pillow completes the look. We love a great multi-functional design! Design never needs to be sterile and small spaces do not need to feel cramped! Let us help you make your space everything you've imagined, and more!

Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, is home to Jade Signature, a gorgeous high-rise residential building developed by Fortune International Group and designed by Swiss architects, Herzog & de Meuron. Breathtakingly beautiful, Jade Signature shimmers in the Florida sun and offers residents unparalleled views of sparkling oceanfront and exquisitely landscaped grounds. Amenities abound for residents of the 53-story building, including a spa, fitness, and guest suite level; worldwide concierge services; private beach; and a private pedestrian walkway to Collins Avenue. TASK Our international client has asked us to design a 3k sq ft turnkey residence at Jade Signature. The unit on the 50th floor affords spectacular views and a stunning 800 sq ft balcony that increases the total living space. SCOPE Britto Charette is responsible for all aspects of designing the 3-bedroom, 5-bathroom residence that is expected to be completed by the end of September 2017. Our design features custom built-ins, headboards, bedroom sets, and furnishings. HIGHLIGHTS We are especially fond of the sculptural Zaha Hadid sofa by B&b Italia.

Our client asked us to turn this spare bedroom into a functional, sophisticated study. We wanted to incorporate our client's existing furniture, so we focused on finding the rest of the furnishings in a deep, espresso-colored wood. Once we had the larger pieces all set and ready to go, we worked in the new artwork, window treatments, accessories, and decor - which all beautifully contrasted against the darker wood and added some major character! Home located in Atlanta, Georgia. Having a home office can seem like the best of both worlds, but it’s important to keep in mind that this should be a productive space that keeps out the many distractions of home. You may not have the luxury of a dedicated room to turn into your office room or home library, so choose your space wisely to ensure privacy and adequate storage. A carefully designed corner in your living room or an alcove can be made into a productive and stylish study space. Your home office furniture with the desk in the centre of your design, needs to include both work surface space and storage ideas – never underestimate how quickly a computer desk can become cluttered with stationery and box files.

For any basic home office or study set up there are just two essential office furniture items: desks and seating. If you will be a frequent home worker then you will also want to invest in nice desk lighting, filing cabinets or bookcases. Desks need to be large enough to accommodate all the tools of your trade. When decorating the walls, look out for items that create the right studious vibe for the room. Wall maps, pinboards that can serve as mood or inspiration boards, and world clocks can all be great options when considering office design ideas. Practical necessities like desk lamps needn’t be unattractive – there a range of stunning designer lamps available. If you use a laptop instead of a desktop PC, you may even consider a folding table that can be simply tidied away when you’re done working or studying. If it was good enough for Roald Dahl, it’s certainly good enough for us.

How do I create a home library?

If the stuffiness of home office desks, swivel chairs and filing cabinets is too much for you, a library space may be more your thing when it comes to study, work or even relaxation. Libraries are peaceful and quiet places, and with careful consideration you can recreate this in an area of your home. Books are obviously going to feature heavily in your home library design, and you’ll need a place to store them. A bookcase or nice shelving can create room dividers if you don’t have a whole room to dedicate to a home library, and the benefit of bookcases is that they are movable – you don’t have to stick with one layout it it’s not working. If you don’t want to take up space, shelves hung on the walls will work just as well, and if you really want that authentic library feel then you’ll have to go with built in bookshelves that stretch from floor to ceiling. Next all you need is a comfy chair in amongst the books or a desk if you plan to do work or study from your library. Remember that library areas can be slotted in all around the home – under the stairs, in a corner of your living room or kitchen, as a mezzanine or in a small spare room.
