This private client wanted a room set out to view films and spend time with the family doing so. 3rdEdition built the cabinets to house the vast DVD collection, along with integrating the AV equipment. The front stage section was built to match with LED lighting within.

Sheila Rich Interiors, LLCPocket doors allow the multifunctional family room to become a private main floor fifth bedroom for weekend guests. A ceiling mounted fan and recessed lights in the room illuminate and provide welcome air circulation in summer months. The proportionally-sized custom wall unit with strategically placed angles allows the Queen size sofa bed to open with ease. The touch-latch doors to eliminate the protrusions into the room from door knobs.
Cre8tive Rooms LtdWe were tasked with transforming this awkward attic space into a sleek and sophisticated cinema room where our client could unwind and entertain whenever they pleased. At the touch of a button this room now comes to life, delivering stunning 4k video and professional Bowers & Wilkins audio in a super cool setting. We also installed video gate control, CCTV and 4K video distribution throughout the house to enhance our client’s existing security and entertainment systems. Managing the entire project from design to completion in less than three months, we could not be happier with the end result.
We opted for a slate grey Screen Innovations motorised, drop-down cinema screen for this project. The screen is ambient light rejecting which means it can be used with the blinds open or closed, and acoustically transparent, which means the sound from the Bowers & Wilkins speakers behind can pass through it completely unaffected.
We used black-out motorised blinds from Q-Motion to block any sunlight from entering the room when the system is in use. We programmed these through Savant to lower as soon as the system is engaged for an effortless and functional solution. We also programmed and installed a bespoke skylight blind which was required in the ceiling.
We used Bowers & Wilkins speakers to create a punchy 5.1.4 Dolby Atmos sound system. This translates to 5 freestanding floor speakers, 1 subwoofer and 4 ceiling speakers. We also opted for a JVC projector to deliver crystal clear 4K picture quality with very little running noise.
Savant allows this otherwise complex system to be controlled seamlessly and effortlessly from a beautifully designed smart phone app. The client also has the opportunity to create their own custom commands depending on how they like to use their system.

The Pleasure HomeThe Client's requirements for the newly converted Barn were to not damage the newly-fitted wood panelling, to sit the screen as tight to the wall as possible, whilst achieving the highest quality surround sound, given the room size and acoustic properties of the room. The budget was set at under £15,000.
We determined, that given the viewing distance and the fact that the front of the Barn was a full width set of sliding glass doors, we would recommend an 85 inch TV, rather than a Projector. This would be great for daytime viewing and actually much lower cost than a Projection system. We promptly sourced an end of line Samsung TV for just £3,000 for the Client, who was suitably impressed at the instant savings achieved!
Based on the requirement for surface mount speakers for the Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound System, we used Morel's flagship SP-3 satellite speakers for the most important front left, right and centre speaker positions and the mid-range SP-2's for the two rears.
We were asked to hide the Subwoofer if possible and were able to locate this under the stairs, using judicially spaced air holes for the sound to exit.
Finally we built a custom storage unit for the equipment on castors, so that it would also fit under the stairs. Using an Infra-red repeater, the equipment could still be controlled, either with the relevant standard remotes or our own custom iPad/iPhone 'iRemoteControl" App.
Finally the TV was re-calibrated for the best pictures settings and the sound optimised using the Audyssey Laboratories Surround Sound Calibration system.
Sources for the system are SkyQ, Neflix, AppleTV and Spotify/TIDAL music streaming via a Sonos Pre-Amplifier.
