This old galley style kitchen lacked proper organized storage – which promoted clutter and was closed to the dining area. The same general footprint was maintained but adding full height cabinets and relocating the fridge gave more counter and storage space. A clever use of lighter uppers combined with rift cut oak lowers adds light and warmth at the same time. A single French door provided space to move the fridge and set up a pantry wall. Wood look porcelain tile adds to the continuity of the look. The nook area was restricted by large baseboard heaters, a wide window sill and double doors - switching to floor heat, adding a counter area and reducing the door created a usable clean space. The slide in range blends in with the subtle glass tile detail and the mix of cabinet and wall colours. Removal of the wall to the dining room opens up the sink wall. This galley with a twist opens nicely in to the dining area and provides everything in a very organized layout. Well placed lighting ensures both a great ambiance and efficient work areas.
Cathie Hong InteriorsThis 1956 John Calder Mackay home had been poorly renovated in years past. We kept the 1400 sqft footprint of the home, but re-oriented and re-imagined the bland white kitchen to a midcentury olive green kitchen that opened up the sight lines to the wall of glass facing the rear yard. We chose materials that felt authentic and appropriate for the house: handmade glazed ceramics, bricks inspired by the California coast, natural white oaks heavy in grain, and honed marbles in complementary hues to the earth tones we peppered throughout the hard and soft finishes. This project was featured in the Wall Street Journal in April 2022.

Altura ArchitectsThis West Asheville small house is on an ⅛ acre infill lot just 1 block from the Haywood Road commercial district. With only 840 square feet, space optimization is key. Each room houses multiple functions, and storage space is integrated into every possible location.
The owners strongly emphasized using available outdoor space to its fullest. A large screened porch takes advantage of the our climate, and is an adjunct dining room and living space for three seasons of the year.
A simple form and tonal grey palette unify and lend a modern aesthetic to the exterior of the small house, while light colors and high ceilings give the interior an airy feel.

L'objectif était d'agrandir l'espace de préparation, de créer du rangement supplémentaire et d'organiser la zone de lavage autour du timbre en céramique d'origine.
Le tout harmoniser par le bois de peuplier et un fin plan de travail en céramique.
Garder apparente la partie technique (chauffe-eau et tuyaux) est un parti-pris. Tout comme celui de conserver la carrelage et la faïence.
Ce linéaire est composé de gauche à droite d'un réfrigérateur sous plan, d'un four + tiroir et d'une plaque gaz, d'un coulissant à épices, d'un lave-linge intégré et d'un meuble sous évier. Ce dernier est sur-mesure afin de s'adapter aux dimensions de l'évier en céramique.
Shenandoah Kitchen & HomeFarmhouse Kitchen remodel in original Quaker Boys School building, now a family home. A true turnkey project, we incorporated the homeowner's need for modern conveniences while staying true to the style of the building. An antique oak barn beam mantle, exposed original log walls, antique brick reclaimed from an old charcoal factory out west, and barn siding oak flooring made this a labor of love!

Cherry wood counters and custom printed wallcovering for backslash, Inset cabinets in a light green painted finish compliment with the adjacent white and gray kitchen.
McDaniels Kitchen and BathThis transitional kitchen design in Holt proves why dramatic color schemes are becoming a more popular choice for kitchen remodels. The elegant, custom green raised panel cabinetry from Decora is beautifully offset by Top Knobs honey bronze finish hardware. The space has a slight rustic edge with the hardwood flooring, dark Cambria quartz countertop, and marble backsplash combining perfectly to add contrast and texture to the design. Black finish GE appliances add another color contrast, along with the Elkay E-granite black double bowl sink and Kohler faucet. The design includes a built-in buffet area, and upper glass front cabinets with in cabinet lighting, plus undercabinet lights throughout.
piquThis recently completed provenance by piqu kitchen design makes the most of the limited space available and whilst not the biggest project, everything has been included that you would need. Designed and handcrafted in our workshop in Orpington, the end result is very clean and uncluttered and we absolutely love the cool and calming colours from Farrow & Ball – Treron and School House White coupled with the brass fittings, lighting and Quorn stone floor chosen by our clients.
