Aménagement du jardin privé pour des particuliers basés à Villennes-sur-Seine. Le jardin entour la maison et est aménagé de petits espaces permettant son utilisation pour différents usages. La conception est pensée avec une cohérence paysagère de l'ensemble de la parcelle. La maison située au centre du jardin, offre des points de vue sur des scènes du jardin. L'ensemble du paysage amène le visiteur à se tourner vers la Seine, clou du spectacle de ce terrain exceptionnel. La terrasse en bois surplombe le jardin et est bordée de massifs de vivaces fleuries et naturelles. Les haies monotones et monospécifiques sont remplacées par des haies champêtres et à leurs pieds des massifs plantés viennent faire du jardin une promenade ponctuée de petits espaces de repos ou de lecture agréable. his yard was transformed from a bland bilder basic to a fun and lush xeriscaped entry way. To make the yard feel bigger, we removed the driveway and used gravel from end to end, creating an open, borderless planting and patio space across the entire front yard. For extra security and privacy, a fence was added along the front, which features an automatic gate for easy use as they come and go. With the limestone facade being one of the customers least favorite features of the house, we planted fig ivy vines to grow and cover it.

We call these gardens "living landscapes" because the native plants they contain seed off and change locations from year to year in a dynamic, dramatic show. The gardener becomes audience, director, and dramaturge--all in one--rather than one who tightly controls the results. (What is a dramaturge, one might ask if their friends are not in the theater?) Oxford languages explains: "1. a dramatist. 2. a literary editor on the staff of a theater who consults with authors and edits texts." In living landscapes, the native plants become a sort of text which the gardener edits in order to shape the unfolding drama for the current and next season. The gardener chooses where to pull back overly assertive plants, when to nudge forward the under-confident actor waiting to shine, when to let the mystery unfold and surprise. It is not laissez-faire or "what will be will be"--rather, it is an ongoing movement rooted in observation and reflection. This is the living landscape we strive to design and build at The Natural Garden.

An under-utilised corner of the garden was transformed into a romantic apiary, or bee-yard, featuring brightly painted hives and vintage furniture. The pebbles are a practical surface for working on the hives and retain water for the plants. Plants selected are a mix of bee-friendly perennials, herbs and vegetables, including dahlia, salvia leucanthe, anenome japonica and dianthus, buckwheat, blue kale, rhubarb, and silver lemon thyme.
