El espacio del recibidor en un futuro puede convertirse en habitación, así pues, todas las decisiones y ubicación de los diferentes elementos (interruptores y enchufes, aplacado de ladrillo, armario...) se hacen pensando en el posible cambio de uso que tendrá el aposento. Aplacamos la pared de ladrillo y la iluminamos con dos apliques de pared. Complementamos el espacio de entrada con un banco, una estantería – percha y un gran espejo de madera. En la pared opuesta colocamos un armario de punta a punta, blanco que casi desaparece a la vista. Como el armario es de módulos prefabricados nos sobra un pequeño espacio donde se nos acude poner una estantería que le da un toque de vida con la decoración.

Circle hallway | This has by far been our most technically challenging house, and I can't be more proud of the work Clay, Matt and Will did! This house had tons of challenges - rounded tile at the entry, rounded upstairs hallway exposed to the downstairs, floor to ceiling posts that intersected our work throughout the home, and very few walls with right angles. Clay Anderson, of Anderson Service, made all of the custom radius pieces for the entry and upstairs hallway, and installed this beautiful staircase. Matt installed the 5" long length casa hickory. Will stained the floor with Nutmeg stain and applied the polyurethane finish. The least challenging part - our wonderful homeowners! The definitive idea behind this project was to create a modest country house that was traditional in outward appearance yet minimalist from within. The harmonious scale, thick wall massing and the attention to architectural detail are reminiscent of the enduring quality and beauty of European homes built long ago. It features a custom-built Spanish Colonial- inspired house that is characterized by an L-plan, low-pitched mission clay tile roofs, exposed wood rafter tails, broad expanses of thick white-washed stucco walls with recessed-in French patio doors and casement windows; and surrounded by native California oaks, boxwood hedges, French lavender, Mexican bush sage, and rosemary that are often found in Mediterranean landscapes. An emphasis was placed on visually experiencing the weight of the exposed ceiling timbers and the thick wall massing between the light, airy spaces. A simple and elegant material palette, which consists of white plastered walls, timber beams, wide plank white oak floors, and pale travertine used for wash basins and bath tile flooring, was chosen to articulate the fine balance between clean, simple lines and Old World touches.

Your hallway or hall is the place you usually enter and exit the house, meaning it’s usually the place you want to load up or unload all your outdoor items – coats, jackets, umbrellas, hats, shoes, scarves, and often bags and keys, too. However, narrow hallways are common in a lot of UK and Irish properties so hallway storage can sometimes be hard to achieve. The type of rustic hallway storage ideas that would suit your home will always depend on the available space and flexibility you have in your space – if feasible, built-in storage like cupboards and under-stairs storage will really help, but if not, there’s hallway furniture, hooks, racks and rails that can come to the rescue. Where space permits, furniture that doubles as storage is a great idea. If yours is big enough, it can be furnished with seating such as a barn style hallway bench, armchair, rocking chair or beanbag; you could add a lodge style small table, lamps, hallway storage boxes, ottoman or bookcase (or all of the above!) to create a comfortable nook for reading, listening to music, or just passing the time.

Rustic Landing furniture ideas

The landing at the top of your staircase is too often a neglected but can provide valuable, flexible, additional space. The golden rule of furnishing landings is to ensure stairways aren’t impeded, but even with limited floor space this is an area that affords ample opportunity for furniture and design. Some rustic landings may have enough room for furniture such as seating or bookshelves to create a quiet reading area, or a desk and shelving to provide a makeshift work space. Even if your landing is on the smaller side, use rustic landing ideas such as a small rustic hall table or stool accessorised with a table lamp, an antique bowl or flowers, which will add interest. A beautiful window seat can be the prize feature of a house, so if you have a bay window on your landing it seems a crying shame not to make the most of it. For a built-in option, seating with added storage can be installed under the window; alternatively, simply placing a cabin style bench, miniature sofa or chaise longue in the window will add charm to your landing.
