Amber Freda Garden DesignThis TriBeCa roof garden design includes low-maintenance greenroof trays, a metal pergola, and lush plantings in black fiberglass planters. We also included a brown bamboo fence to help cover a less attractive existing fence. Plantings include white birch trees, blue junipers, variegated euonymus, ornamental grasses, Knockout roses, gold mop cyresses, boxwoods, dwarf pines, and purple and chartreuse heuchera. All of the planters are watered via an automated drip irrigation system. We also included up-lighting in the planters that is controlled on an automated timer. yardscapes Inc.Finished rooftop project with custom metal furniture and arbor, Tournesol planters, and container plantings. This is a close up of the custom metal furnishings. On top of the custom metal table base we installed limestone slabs. We decided wo add warmth to the space, by finding a reclaimed piece of wood and affixing it to a custom metal base.

Amber Freda Garden DesignThe rustic ranch look of knotty cedar fencing gets a contemporary twist in our design of this Chelsea rooftop garden. This fencing gives some much needed privacy from a common roof, while the black and tan pergola casts a bit of welcome shade for seating on a sunny south-facing roof. Additional design elements include artificial turf, contemporary outdoor furniture, black fiberglass planters, and geometric custom lattices. When we first saw this roof garden’s existing pavers, they were very weathered and benefited greatly from a power washing to help clean and brighten them up, which made them look brand new again. A simplistic, modern approach was called for this rooftop design project in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Ornamental grasses and sedum thrive on this highly exposed site while softening the Cor-Ten steel structure. This design was featured in the January 2014 issue of Dwell magazine.
