Commissioned mural. I designed and painted one full wall of my client’s guest bathroom to resemble a doorway that opens onto a patio with a water landscape view so as to visually expand the room.

This 1990s brick home had decent square footage and a massive front yard, but no way to enjoy it. Each room needed an update, so the entire house was renovated and remodeled, and an addition was put on over the existing garage to create a symmetrical front. The old brown brick was painted a distressed white.
The 500sf 2nd floor addition includes 2 new bedrooms for their teen children, and the 12'x30' front porch lanai with standing seam metal roof is a nod to the homeowners' love for the Islands. Each room is beautifully appointed with large windows, wood floors, white walls, white bead board ceilings, glass doors and knobs, and interior wood details reminiscent of Hawaiian plantation architecture.
The kitchen was remodeled to increase width and flow, and a new laundry / mudroom was added in the back of the existing garage. The master bath was completely remodeled. Every room is filled with books, and shelves, many made by the homeowner.

Hand painted, custom ceramic tiles by Vance Perry through Tempest Tile Co create a delicate softness to the brightest room within the room. The back wall is covered with a subtle horizontal grass cloth, and the floor features a linear inset Marmoleum detail, reminiscent of Japanese design. The window shown is made with rice paper, allowing in light while maintaining privacy.

Powder room with a difference with view of greenery and a lovely asian inspired vanity table of black honed granite with natural mushroom edge and solid chengal wood base
Sato Architects, Inc.
Earthy and zen, this powder room utilizes texture and detail to create a moody escape. The initial inspiration for this space came from an old wood carving that Audrey Sato Design Studio sourced for the custom vanity. The textural tile, lava stone countertop, and copper vessel sink were then selected to complement the carving.

This tiny powder room packs a punch with it's wall hung maple vanity and ceramic wall tile mimicing bamboo. The tile creates an easy to clean surface butting into the Rain Forest marble counter top.
The bamboo detailing on the deck mounted faucet repeat this tropical motif.
The custom woven texture on the framed mirror adds to the tropical feeling of this room.
