Fran Kerzner- DESIGN SYNTHESISOur new clients lived in a charming Spanish-style house in the historic Larchmont area of Los Angeles. Their kitchen, which was obviously added later, was devoid of style and desperately needed a makeover. While they wanted the latest in appliances they did want their new kitchen to go with the style of their house. The en trend choices of patterned floor tile and blue cabinets were the catalysts for pulling the whole look together.
Haskell InteriorsA built in coffee station is placed directly in the archway of this butler's pantry and kitchen design. Dark cabinetry provides great storage and tucks neatly into the recess. A butler's pantry with plenty of storage lies just beyond.
The space began as a 2-car garage. After months of renovation, it is now a gourmet kitchen. The focal point is the hood made from a reclaimed warehouse beam and finished with a copper top and placed on stone and glass mosaic tile. The island is large enough to accomadate seating and provide plenty of room for prepping. Adjoining the space is a large butlers pantry and bar and a home office space. Tall cabinetry flank the cooking wall and provide easy access storage to pots and pans as well as small appliance storage.
This was the 2011 National Transitional Kitchen of the Year as awarded by Signature Kitchens & Baths Magazine.

Ben Heath InteriorsThe stunning kitchen features a combination of Ben Heath bespoke and Neptune cabinetry. The kitchen is finished in Neptune's water-based Old Chalk paint with a Blue Grey limestone worktop and a Cognac satino limestone flooring. The tall cabinet housing has an integrated Combi Microwave and a Steamer Oven. The bar stools add a nice texture to the kitchen.

Vision InteriorsThe best of the past and present meet in this distinguished design. Custom craftsmanship and distinctive detailing give this lakefront residence its vintage flavor while an open and light-filled floor plan clearly mark it as contemporary. With its interesting shingled roof lines, abundant windows with decorative brackets and welcoming porch, the exterior takes in surrounding views while the interior meets and exceeds contemporary expectations of ease and comfort. The main level features almost 3,000 square feet of open living, from the charming entry with multiple window seats and built-in benches to the central 15 by 22-foot kitchen, 22 by 18-foot living room with fireplace and adjacent dining and a relaxing, almost 300-square-foot screened-in porch. Nearby is a private sitting room and a 14 by 15-foot master bedroom with built-ins and a spa-style double-sink bath with a beautiful barrel-vaulted ceiling. The main level also includes a work room and first floor laundry, while the 2,165-square-foot second level includes three bedroom suites, a loft and a separate 966-square-foot guest quarters with private living area, kitchen and bedroom. Rounding out the offerings is the 1,960-square-foot lower level, where you can rest and recuperate in the sauna after a workout in your nearby exercise room. Also featured is a 21 by 18-family room, a 14 by 17-square-foot home theater, and an 11 by 12-foot guest bedroom suite.

FINNE ArchitectsThe Fall City Renovation began with a farmhouse on a hillside overlooking the Snoqualmie River valley, about 30 miles east of Seattle. On the main floor, the walls between the kitchen and dining room were removed, and a 25-ft. long addition to the kitchen provided a continuous glass ribbon around the limestone kitchen counter. The resulting interior has a feeling similar to a fire look-out tower in the national forest. Adding to the open feeling, a custom island table was created using reclaimed elm planks and a blackened steel base, with inlaid limestone around the sink area. Sensuous custom blown-glass light fixtures were hung over the existing dining table. The completed kitchen-dining space is serene, light-filled and dominated by the sweeping view of the Snoqualmie Valley.
The second part of the renovation focused on the master bathroom. Similar to the design approach in the kitchen, a new addition created a continuous glass wall, with wonderful views of the valley. The blackened steel-frame vanity mirrors were custom-designed, and they hang suspended in front of the window wall. LED lighting has been integrated into the steel frames. The tub is perched in front of floor-to-ceiling glass, next to a curvilinear custom bench in Sapele wood and steel. Limestone counters and floors provide material continuity in the space.
Sustainable design practice included extensive use of natural light to reduce electrical demand, low VOC paints, LED lighting, reclaimed elm planks at the kitchen island, sustainably harvested hardwoods, and natural stone counters. New exterior walls using 2x8 construction achieved 40% greater insulation value than standard wall construction.

Studio DearbornA beautiful tudor in the Rouken Glen neighborhood of Larchmont New York, in Lower Westchester County New York, had a dated 1950s kitchen. The homeowner, who loves to cook, had huge quantities of cookware and serving pieces, so her new kitchen needed to have lots of storage. However, she also wanted an open feel with minimal upper cabinets. Dearborn Cabinetry worked with architect Zach Schweter to design the new, open layout with a large island with ample seating. Dearborn developed a custom door for this customer who wanted a very clean, shaker style look with minimalist details. Cabinetry color is Benjamin Moore brushed aluminum; countertops are Pietra Cardosa limestone; appliances by Thermador; sink by Shaws (Rohl).c 2013 Dearborn Cabinetry LLC
Tim Wood LimitedThis kitchen was designed for The House and Garden show house which was organised by the IDDA (now The British Institute of Interior Design). Tim Wood was invited to design the kitchen for the showhouse in the style of a Mediterranean villa. Tim Wood designed the kitchen area which ran seamlessly into the dining room, the open garden area next to it was designed by Kevin Mc Cloud.
This bespoke kitchen was made from maple with quilted maple inset panels. All the drawers were made of solid maple and dovetailed and the handles were specially designed in pewter. The work surfaces were made from white limestone and the sink from a solid limestone block. A large storage cupboard contains baskets for food and/or children's toys. The larder cupboard houses a limestone base for putting hot food on and flush maple double sockets for electrical appliances. This maple kitchen has a pale and stylish look with timeless appeal.

Upper cabinets are mechanized bi-fold lift up doors with back painted glass finish. The lower cabinets feature matte gray tones and utilize a volcanic sand finish.
