A metal mesh bridge and fountain mark the entry to the Texas French Bread Garden. The bridge crosses a rain garden full of native grasses that manage drainage, and provides a moment of pause when entering the domain of the garden. The fountain provides the sensory engagement of sound, reflection, and a cooling effect with the breeze.

The courtyard narrows down to a meandering garden path that takes one to a secret garden by the master bedroom. Beneath the pergola is an antique stone trough we converted into a gas fire pit. The perennial border of lavender, nepeta, teucrium, shasta daisy, lemon verbena and herbs are a symphony of color, fragrance and texture. There are two ornamental plums that will hide the destination when they fill in.
