Nous avons choisi de dessiner les bureaux à l’image du magazine Beaux-Arts : un support neutre sur une trame contemporaine, un espace modulable dont le contenu change mensuellement. Les cadres au mur sont des pages blanches dans lesquelles des œuvres peuvent prendre place. Pour les mettre en valeur, nous avons choisi un blanc chaud dans l’intégralité des bureaux, afin de créer un espace clair et lumineux. La rampe d’escalier devait contraster avec le chêne déjà présent au sol, que nous avons prolongé à la verticale sur les murs pour que le visiteur lève la tête et que sont regard soit attiré par les œuvres exposées. Une belle entrée, majestueuse, nous sommes dans le volume respirant de l’accueil. Nous sommes chez « Les Beaux-Arts Magazine ».b

Many of the finishes were reclaimed from the previous home or from local sources. Site placement and thoughtful window selection allow for daylight to stream into the home even on a gray day. This home is LEED Platinum Certified and was built by Meadowlark Design + Build in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

This modern family wanted a home to match. They purchased a beautiful home in Ashburn and wanted the interiors to clean lined, sleek but also colorful. The builder-grade fireplace was given a very modern look with new tile from Porcelanosa and custom made wood mantle. The awkward niches was also given a new look and new purpose with a custom built-in. Both the mantle and built-in were made by Ark Woodworking. We warmed the space with a pop of warm color on the left side of the fireplace wall and balanced with with modern art to the right. A very unique modern chandelier centers the entire design. This inviting media room mixes a traditional sectional with a Moroccan inspirered kilm rug and leopard pillow under a vaulted ceiling. Brick red accent wall adds vibrancy and soft billowy Roman shade soften the architectural eyebrow windows. Beige and orange. When a comfortable, cozy look is what you want, turn to natural shades of orange (with a little brown in them), beige and off-white. Pair these warm tones with rich red walls and natural fibers.

Introducing cabinetry and floating shelves from the R. D. Henry Heartland line took this fireplace area from mediocre to marvelous! The Alder wood with Cornerstone stain and a midnight frost glaze is warm and classic. Under the Lincolnshire quartz counter by Cambria is a hidden wine cooler and also a bottle pullout drawer. The contemporary raised hearth is Fossil Brown quartz from MSI and the stone is Dry Stack Colorado Canyon Pencil.

This 1960s split-level has a new Family Room addition in front of the existing home, with a total gut remodel of the existing Kitchen/Living/Dining spaces. A walk-around stone double-sided fireplace between Dining and the new Family room sits at the original exterior wall. The stone accents, wood trim and wainscot, and beam details highlight the rustic charm of this home. Open Plan Games Room with Red Walls Ideas and Designs

If you’re lucky enough to have more than one reception room then you have a bit more freedom when deciding what to do with your secondary space. Families with children or just young-at-heart adults could opt for a family room or games room; whether it’s a pool or snooker table room, a comfy relaxation or TV area, a video games haven, a playroom packed with toys or a sports room with accompanying bar. Usually games rooms are naturally fun, recreational spaces so it’s important that the furnishings are functional but enjoyable with an emphasis on comfort, storage, games and entertainment. If you have the scope, family room extensions are a great way of extending from your kitchen or other area of your house to create a whole new, dedicated family space or games room. Basements are also wonderfully suited to house games rooms as they are usually soundproof and secluded so that loud games, films and cheers of success or failure won’t be heard next door or upstairs. If you do have, or plan on having, a separate games room, it’s a great opportunity to go to town on the games, entertainment, gadgets and laid back feel you can have in this informal living space. What furniture does my family room or games room need?

This should be a relaxing place that promotes fun and socialisation, so fill the room with comfortable seating. Plush armchairs, wide sofas, bean bags and reclining chairs are all great games room ideas that promote R&R. Add coffee tables and side tables for holding glasses and plates (if they’re allowed), books, magazines and all the other knick-knacks that accumulate in a family room. TV stands or media units are great for keeping DVDs, audio systems, gaming consoles and all other gadgetry neat and organised. If you have small children, be mindful of free floor space for any rough-and-tumble and bump-able surfaces. A cosy rug will be a great addition but make sure it doesn’t easily slip under fast moving feet! If you’re going all out for the games room option then the sky’s your limit when it comes to games tables and other gaming equipment. Snooker, billiards and pool tables will keep competitive spirits busy but if you don’t have the room, table football could be a more suitable option. There’s also air hockey, poker tables, table tennis and cribbage tables; simply pick your game of choice. And of course, if you’re a big fan of the arrows a dart board will be a necessity, just make sure you have a safe area to practise in and your walls are well protected!

Photographs, artwork, colour schemes and textures that reflect the essence of your household will add charm and promote a sense of comfort and relaxation for your family. Fill the room with features your family love – films, board games, books, music and perhaps sports memorabilia. Keep decor functional and practical – pristine white upholstery and rugs are probably not the ticket for the hustle and bustle of a games or family room. If you love light or neutral tones family room ideas that could work include light leather sofas, which will be easy to clean in the case of any spills, and soft coloured cushions and throws that can be thrown in the washing machine whenever necessary.
