This Rear Garden originally designed by Kim Hoyt RLA was re- planted with a palette of easy care perennials , ground-cover and small trees. The Bluetone patio accented by brick complements the original stacked stone wall. Large urns and bowls filled with evergreens provide a focal point in the space. Custom BBQ and dining seat maximize the use of space in this urban garden. The natural bamboo fence provides privacy and texture without overwhelming the space.

In a suburb less than 3 miles from Manhattan an old house underwent a major facelift. I had a good fortune of being invited to participate on the garden design and installation. In the front a simple corten steel frame lifts an arrangement of Carex Pensilvanica, that will mature into a lawn that will not need mowing. Playful clusters of Boxwoods add structure and winter interest.

The planting needed to be confined to containers because there was no soil. The entire garden is laid directly over the roof structure. Photos-Chris Jacobson, GardenArt Group

This is a home in Greenwich CT where we have many potted pots that surround this patio and vista perennial garden. The cushions on the chairs are white making this very formal. Peter Atkins and Associates, LLC

This residential development in Midtown Manhattan created a gorgeous green space on the rooftop of their building for residents to enjoy. With lounge chairs, tables, and live plants, this rooftop space is ideal for entertaining or just relaxing and enjoying the view. With 360 views of New York City, including the iconic Chrysler Building in the background, this incredible rooftop is the pride of the building.
