Rove ConceptsDesigner Pierre Paulin made a statement with the Slice Chair. He championed playfulness, unlike some of his peers, who supported practicality above all else. The clever design seems to change at every angle and color, depending on where you are standing and how it is upholstered. This multifaceted appearance is what keeps this piece fresh. The Slice Chair is a fantastic expression of the belief that design can be fun while still staying true to the functionality of mid-century modern style.
Breathe Design StudioOur Austin studio decided to go bold with this project by ensuring that each space had a unique identity in the Mid-Century Modern style bathroom, butler's pantry, and mudroom. We covered the bathroom walls and flooring with stylish beige and yellow tile that was cleverly installed to look like two different patterns. The mint cabinet and pink vanity reflect the mid-century color palette. The stylish knobs and fittings add an extra splash of fun to the bathroom.
The butler's pantry is located right behind the kitchen and serves multiple functions like storage, a study area, and a bar. We went with a moody blue color for the cabinets and included a raw wood open shelf to give depth and warmth to the space. We went with some gorgeous artistic tiles that create a bold, intriguing look in the space.
In the mudroom, we used siding materials to create a shiplap effect to create warmth and texture – a homage to the classic Mid-Century Modern design. We used the same blue from the butler's pantry to create a cohesive effect. The large mint cabinets add a lighter touch to the space.

Acorn Deck House CompanyWith a grand total of 1,247 square feet of living space, the Lincoln Deck House was designed to efficiently utilize every bit of its floor plan. This home features two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a two-car detached garage and boasts an impressive great room, whose soaring ceilings and walls of glass welcome the outside in to make the space feel one with nature.

L’envie était de ne pas n’altérer le charme de l’ancien tout en apportant une touche de design et de modernité. Certains éléments comme les corniches ou le parquet ont été restaurés. Le choix des carrelages et des finitions de cuisine soulignent encore ce parti pris. La bibliothèque, le dressing et la tête de lit s’intègrent dans cet ensemble pour permettre de mettre en avant les meubles sans les alourdir. Le choix des lampes et des mobiliers signés finissent de faire le lien entre design et histoire.
Emily Anne Interior DesignBrass accents were used to enhance the bedroom space. A swing arm lamp helps keep the bedside table uncluttered while adding an architectural interest to the wall.
SpacejoyThe solid wood bed is warm and inviting with a mid-century modern flair. Keeping your bedding white and crisp is timeless and clean, then adding wonderful accent pillows will pull in other materials and textures we love in boho/mid-century design. The rug also helps give warmth and comfort to your space. The nightstands will provide some personal storage for you and tie into the design of the desk. To keep the surface of a nightstand free of lamps when possible, so your sconces will be the perfect light source for you at bedtime. There are significant architectural elements in the bedroom that we wanted to highlight. Adding in accents of black metal ties the furnishings into the architecture, really giving the furnishings a sense of belonging. Finally, the full-length mirror is perfect for the bedroom, has an art deco vibe, and is essential for making the room look more spacious. The bench in front of the mirror helps visually ground the mirror, adds more texture to space, and is conveniently located to sit to take off your shoes at the end of a long day. Both the desk and the task lamp relate entirely back to the nightstands and again have the black metal accents. The desk chair is comfortable and stylish, the perfect blend of beauty and function. Adding shelving above the desk allows accessorize or add some essential work items up there. A hanging planter nearby gives you more plant life and visual height in the room, and of course, more great texture.
Mary Hannah InteriorsThis black matte and brass king bed pulls in just enough glamor in this coastal retreat with its wooden bedside tables, retro in texture and brass x pulls. Seashells sprinkled throughout, an washed out aqua rug and sea glass pillows layer beautifully. The romance of texture continues into the duo of brass painted candelabras hanging overhead and the rouged white bedding.
Breathe Design StudioCompleted in 2017, this project features midcentury modern interiors with copper, geometric, and moody accents. The design was driven by the client's attraction to a grey, copper, brass, and navy palette, which is featured in three different wallpapers throughout the home. As such, the townhouse incorporates the homeowner's love of angular lines, copper, and marble finishes. The builder-specified kitchen underwent a makeover to incorporate copper lighting fixtures, reclaimed wood island, and modern hardware. In the master bedroom, the wallpaper behind the bed achieves a moody and masculine atmosphere in this elegant "boutique-hotel-like" room. The children's room is a combination of midcentury modern furniture with repetitive robot motifs that the entire family loves. Like in children's space, our goal was to make the home both fun, modern, and timeless for the family to grow into. This project has been featured in Austin Home Magazine, Resource 2018 Issue.
