The sunroom overlooks a ravine and a small patio (barely visible off of the sliding patio doors. The original 'ranch' casing was replaced with new trim, and the existing built-ins and through wall HVAC system were removed. 4" of rigid insulation was set on top of the roof, and the new skylights were set up on curbs. The open courtyard was enclosed by a previous owner that was sensitive to the existing design of the house but the wood was left bare and dated the courtyard enclosure. We painted it bright white. We covered the large windows with sun shade fabric screens that kept the courtyard from getting hot and could be removed during the winter for maximum solar gain.

The enclosed courtyard with a fresh coat of white paint. The old, open planter was covered with a wood deck that was painted the same color as the floor, it is almost invisible.
