The Galeana GroupA husband-wife advertising couple purchased her grandparents' ranch style home and wanted an updated bathroom. He's a Graphic Artist/Animator and she's in Account Planning, so good design is a must. Both have an appreciation for retro styles, but it was important that it feel current. (Note the illustration of Godzilla that hangs on the wall.) What a transformation!

DesignARCInspired by DesignARC's Greenworth House, the owners of this 1960's single-story ranch house desired a fresh take on their out-dated, well-worn Montecito residence. Hailing from Toronto Canada, the couple is at ease in urban, loft-like spaces and looked to create a pared-down dwelling that could become their home.

Current Master Bathroom is very outdated. Client wanted to create a spa feel keeping it mid century modern style as the rest of their home. The bathroom is small so a spacious feeling was important. There is a window they wanted to focus on. A walk in shower was a must that eventually would accomodate an easy walk in as they aged.
DwellifyThis green-loving homeowner came to us with a specific vision in mind - they wanted to go green. By incorporating a fun, geometric tile, a mix of black and gold accents, and a gorgeous free-standing bathtub, our team was able to turn this bathroom into their dream space. After the remodel was complete, the homeowner incorporated plants and additional green accents to take this green bathroom to the next level and truly make it their own.
Breathe Design StudioOur Austin studio decided to go bold with this project by ensuring that each space had a unique identity in the Mid-Century Modern style bathroom, butler's pantry, and mudroom. We covered the bathroom walls and flooring with stylish beige and yellow tile that was cleverly installed to look like two different patterns. The mint cabinet and pink vanity reflect the mid-century color palette. The stylish knobs and fittings add an extra splash of fun to the bathroom.
The butler's pantry is located right behind the kitchen and serves multiple functions like storage, a study area, and a bar. We went with a moody blue color for the cabinets and included a raw wood open shelf to give depth and warmth to the space. We went with some gorgeous artistic tiles that create a bold, intriguing look in the space.
In the mudroom, we used siding materials to create a shiplap effect to create warmth and texture – a homage to the classic Mid-Century Modern design. We used the same blue from the butler's pantry to create a cohesive effect. The large mint cabinets add a lighter touch to the space.

Cathie Hong InteriorsThis Willow Glen Eichler had undergone an 80s renovation that sadly didn't take the midcentury modern architecture into consideration. We converted both bathrooms back to a midcentury modern style with an infusion of Japandi elements. We borrowed space from the master bedroom to make the master ensuite a luxurious curbless wet room with soaking tub and Japanese tiles.

You want to consider the storage they offer while also making sure they make an attractive feature as you enter your bathroom. Don’t forget you need them to be durable and withstand the damp conditions, e.g. if you’re going for a painted cabinet make sure the paint is suitable for baths. You could choose pale colours and iridescent tiles that reflect the light, keep walls and ceilings the same colour and texture, and use complementary shades throughout the bathroom– fewer contrasts and transitions will help maintain the sense of space. Floating bathroom units also draw the eye to visible floor space underneath them, and clear glass shower screens will keep the room feeling open and airy.
