This Berkeley property had overgrown vines, concaving fences, rotted deck, dead lawn, broken concrete, and poor drainage. After removing about 30 yards of soil from this lot, we were able to begin leveling and sculpting the landscape. We installed new concrete pathways, synthetic lawn, custom swing and arbor, Thermory wood decking with metal railings, paver patio with masonry stone wall seating, and stone mosaic water feature with stainless steel wire to match. Many elements tied together nicely in this modern Berkeley backyard.

Earth Design worked with arborists to eliminate trees that were sick and too close to the house. We added fresh sun loving sod to establish a new lawn and added lots more interesting native plants! We fixed drainage issues all around the house.

We built a striking new pergola with a graphic steel-patterned roof to make a covered seating area. Along with creating shade, the roof casts a movie reel of shade patterns throughout the day.

VG's front landscape was originally lined with iceberg roses. However they were not getting any sun whatsoever so they were not producing roses. I decided to move the roses to a sunnier location and redesign this area with an abundant hedge of blue hydrangeas, rouge camellias, night blooming jasmine around the window openings and a carpet of white alyssum, potted orange trees and shocking salmon bougainvillea. The customer asked for plenty of different things for their garden here. Over at the back of the garden they had Composite Decking installed which can last upwards of 25 years, which then leads into a pathway connecting the artificial grass to the rest of the house and lastly they had a retaining wall to keep their garden's privacy at its highest
