An unfinished portion of the basement is now this family's new workout room. Careful attention was given to create a bright and inviting space. Details such as recessed lighting, walls of mirrors, and organized storage for exercise equipment add to the appeal. Luxury vinyl tile (LVT) is the perfect choice of flooring.

The guest room serves as a home gym too! What better way is there to work out at home, than the Pelaton with a view of the city in this spacious condominium! Belltown Design LLC, Luma Condominiums, High Rise Residential Building, Seattle, WA. Photography by Julie Mannell

Below Buchanan is a basement renovation that feels as light and welcoming as one of our outdoor living spaces. The project is full of unique details, custom woodworking, built-in storage, and gorgeous fixtures. Custom carpentry is everywhere, from the built-in storage cabinets and molding to the private booth, the bar cabinetry, and the fireplace lounge.
Creating this bright, airy atmosphere was no small challenge, considering the lack of natural light and spatial restrictions. A color pallet of white opened up the space with wood, leather, and brass accents bringing warmth and balance. The finished basement features three primary spaces: the bar and lounge, a home gym, and a bathroom, as well as additional storage space. As seen in the before image, a double row of support pillars runs through the center of the space dictating the long, narrow design of the bar and lounge. Building a custom dining area with booth seating was a clever way to save space. The booth is built into the dividing wall, nestled between the support beams. The same is true for the built-in storage cabinet. It utilizes a space between the support pillars that would otherwise have been wasted.
The small details are as significant as the larger ones in this design. The built-in storage and bar cabinetry are all finished with brass handle pulls, to match the light fixtures, faucets, and bar shelving. White marble counters for the bar, bathroom, and dining table bring a hint of Hollywood glamour. White brick appears in the fireplace and back bar. To keep the space feeling as lofty as possible, the exposed ceilings are painted black with segments of drop ceilings accented by a wide wood molding, a nod to the appearance of exposed beams. Every detail is thoughtfully chosen right down from the cable railing on the staircase to the wood paneling behind the booth, and wrapping the bar.
Everything Home
This basement remodeling project involved transforming a traditional basement into a multifunctional space, blending a country club ambience and personalized decor with modern entertainment options.
This entertainment/workout space is a sophisticated retreat reminiscent of a country club. We reorganized the layout, utilizing a larger area for the golf tee and workout equipment and a smaller area for the teenagers to play video games. We also added personal touches, like a family photo collage with a chunky custom frame and a photo mural of a favorite golf course.

This house is discreetly tucked into its wooded site in the Mad River Valley near the Sugarbush Resort in Vermont. The soaring roof lines complement the slope of the land and open up views though large windows to a meadow planted with native wildflowers. The house was built with natural materials of cedar shingles, fir beams and native stone walls. These materials are complemented with innovative touches including concrete floors, composite exterior wall panels and exposed steel beams. The home is passively heated by the sun, aided by triple pane windows and super-insulated walls.

Minimalistic, private basement gym.
This space's challenge was the low clearance and tiny windows. Light walls are perfect for spaces with little natural sun light. Having a large mirror adds a sense of depth to compensate for tight feel of low ceilings. Built-in shelving provides for the clean, organized, minimalistic look. This is a nice simple space with great utility.
