This garden imagines the ruin of an ancient Roman bath, remodeled into a koi pond and swimming pool in a splendid formal garden. All over Europe at the height of their empire, the Romans built elaborate baths connected to gymnasiums, not unlike modern health clubs. This landscape, inspired by "Capability" Brown, who designed the gardens of many English great homes in the 18th Century, incorporates the weathered, carved stone of a rediscovered Roman bath organically into the landscape, with natural boulders standing in contrast. Water lilies, iris and other aquatic plants inhabit the water's edge. Biological filtering by plants and bacteria would make it safe to swim among the fish.

Do new indoor or outdoor swimming pools increase the value of homes?

Outdoor or indoor swimming pools can significantly impact property value by attracting buyers with bigger budgets who are looking for a little luxury in their home. However, installing a large mediterranean swimming pool could also negatively impact the value of your house if there isn’t enough space left in your garden for anything else. For a hot tub to survive the changing seasons it is important to choose a material that will be durable. Cedar or other wooden hot tubs can look attractive, but will be harder to maintain. The most popular material is often vinyl for its affordability and versatility but this material is also less likely to last. To get the best bang for your buck, we would recommend opting for a concrete or a fibreglass hot tub or spa, which would provide you with a sturdy solution. In addition, metal above ground hot tubs can be a durable option.
