Soft light reveals every fine detail in the custom cabinetry, illuminating the way along the naturally colored floor patterns. This view shows the arched floor to ceiling windows, exposed wooden beams, built in wooden cabinetry complete with a bar fridge and the 30 foot long sliding door that opens to the outdoors.

This newly built Old Mission style home gave little in concessions in regards to historical accuracies. To create a usable space for the family, Obelisk Home provided finish work and furnishings but in needed to keep with the feeling of the home. The coffee tables bunched together allow flexibility and hard surfaces for the girls to play games on. New paint in historical sage, window treatments in crushed velvet with hand-forged rods, leather swivel chairs to allow “bird watching” and conversation, clean lined sofa, rug and classic carved chairs in a heavy tapestry to bring out the love of the American Indian style and tradition. The Sunroom is open to the Living / Family room, and has windows looking to both the Breakfast nook / Kitchen as well as to the yard on 2 sides. There is also access to the back deck through this room. The large windows, ceiling fan and tile floor makes you feel like you're outside while still able to enjoy the comforts of indoor spaces. The built-in banquette provides not only additional storage, but ample seating in the room without the clutter of chairs. The mutli-purpose room is currently used for the homeowner's many stained glass projects.

This new modern house is located in a meadow in Lenox MA. The house is designed as a series of linked pavilions to connect the house to the nature and to provide the maximum daylight in each room. The center focus of the home is the largest pavilion containing the living/dining/kitchen, with the guest pavilion to the south and the master bedroom and screen porch pavilions to the west. While the roof line appears flat from the exterior, the roofs of each pavilion have a pronounced slope inward and to the north, a sort of funnel shape. This design allows rain water to channel via a scupper to cisterns located on the north side of the house. Steel beams, Douglas fir rafters and purlins are exposed in the living/dining/kitchen pavilion. Photo by: Nat Rea Photography
