Designing with opulent fabrics and furnishings seems to be what most of our clients are seeking today. Matching the opulence of fabrics to practicality is where interior designing can become complex. We like to focus on the details as we believe that in order for a room to be comfortable, it needs to be purposeful. Once that has been achieved the beauty naturally falls into place!

These clients were looking for a soothing, traditional second floor sitting area. Susan Currie Design answered the call with pale blues and beiges, comfortable but refined furniture, and a spacious built-in media center, and custom upholstery and draperies. Pale blues, gentle wave and paisley patterns, and soft upholstered furniture welcome the homeowners to sit down and relax after a long day at work. The space sets one at ease. Matt Ackerman

We designed and installed these fitted alcove units either side of this Edwardian fireplace. British homes have plenty of space either side of the chimney breast and we design and make alcove units for storage and display as part of our room design service.

The goal for this project was to create a space that felt “beachy” for the Lewis’ who moved from Utah to San Diego last year. These recent retirees needed a casual living room for everyday use and to handle the wear and tear of grandchildren. They also wanted a sophisticated environment to reflect this point in their lives and to have a welcoming atmosphere for guests. Photos courtesy of Ramon C Purcell
