To take advantage of this home’s natural light and expansive views and to enhance the feeling of spaciousness indoors, we designed an open floor plan on the main level, including the living room, dining room, kitchen and family room. This new traditional-style kitchen boasts all the trappings of the 21st century, including granite countertops and a Kohler Whitehaven farm sink. Sub-Zero under-counter refrigerator drawers seamlessly blend into the space with front panels that match the rest of the kitchen cabinetry. Underfoot, blonde Acacia luxury vinyl plank flooring creates a consistent feel throughout the kitchen, dining and living spaces.

This three-story vacation home for a family of ski enthusiasts features 5 bedrooms and a six-bed bunk room, 5 1/2 bathrooms, kitchen, dining room, great room, 2 wet bars, great room, exercise room, basement game room, office, mud room, ski work room, decks, stone patio with sunken hot tub, garage, and elevator. The home sits into an extremely steep, half-acre lot that shares a property line with a ski resort and allows for ski-in, ski-out access to the mountain’s 61 trails. This unique location and challenging terrain informed the home’s siting, footprint, program, design, interior design, finishes, and custom made furniture. When it comes to the layout of your living room, it will depend on what pieces of furniture you have – but how do you choose what living room furniture to add, whether you’re refreshing your living room design or starting from scratch? The best place to start is with the seating – one corner sofa will usually seat three to four people, and if that’s all you think you’ll need, then you can leave it at that. Placing your sofa along the longest wall helps to make the most of the space, but think about where you want the focus of the room to be, too.
