This living room was part of a larger main floor remodel that included the kitchen, dining room, entryway, and stair. The existing wood burning fireplace and moss rock was removed and replaced with rustic black stained paneling, a gas corner fireplace, and a soapstone hearth. New beams were added.

Aesthetics are important when integrating technology into a home. This contemporary custom home owner wanted an invisible speaker theater (not shown) and a television in the main room that did not stick off the wall like the previous install. This Samsung Frame TV was carefully to fit equal distant in the space above the fireplace.

This project was created to showcase an portable fireplace as a product in-situ shot. For this I made the room quite dark and modern so the white fireplace really stands out against the room.

Perhaps the focal point of the first floor is the magnificent, three-sided stone fireplace, which serves as a divider between a casual sitting area adjacent to the kitchen and the more formal living room. The weight of the stone necessitated embedding wood beams in both the floor and ceiling to transfer the loads. An additional structural modification had to be made for the existing double chimney flue. New built-in media cabinetry was custom designed and fabricated and then field modified to cover the flue. “An increasing body of research is beginning to show that being surrounded by wood at home, work or school has positive effects on the body, the brain and the environment and can even shorten hospital stays through reduced recovery times,” said Chris Philpot, Make it Wood Campaign Manager at Planet Ark. www.timberfloors.com.au ph:97564242 #spottedgum #timberstairs #hardwood #timberfloors #timberflooring #timber #stairs #staircase #staircasedesign #interiorinspo #interiordesign
