A casual holiday home along the Australian coast. A place where extended family and friends from afar can gather to create new memories. Robust enough for hordes of children, yet with an element of luxury for the adults. Referencing the unique position between sea and the Australian bush, by means of textures, textiles, materials, colours and smells, to evoke a timeless connection to place, intrinsic to the memories of family holidays. A contemporary holiday home located on Victoria's Mornington Peninsula featuring rammed earth walls, timber lined ceilings and flagstone floors. This home incorporates strong, natural elements and the joinery throughout features custom, stained oak timber cabinetry and natural limestone benchtops. With a nod to the mid century modern era and a balance of natural, warm elements this home displays a uniquely Australian design style. This home is a cocoon like sanctuary for rejuvenation and relaxation with all the modern conveniences one could wish for thoughtfully integrated.

- Photo: © David Boureau

Engaged by the client to update this 1970's architecturally designed waterfront home by Frank Cavalier, we refreshed the interiors whilst highlighting the existing features such as the Queensland Rosewood timber ceilings. The concept presented was a clean, industrial style interior and exterior lift, collaborating the existing Japanese and Mid Century hints of architecture and design. A project we thoroughly enjoyed from start to finish, we hope you do too.
