This basement laundry/bathroom combination provides large, contemporary bathroom facilities for guests (there isn't a main floor powder room in the house) with a custom glass shower enclosure and large farmhouse-style porcelain sink. The extra deep sink doubles as the perfect spot for hand-washing and the ceiling-mounted dry-hang bar keeps things tidy. The Caesarstone quartz counter provides a nice large folding surface for laundry or toiletries.

The laundry room / mudroom in this updated 1940's Custom Cape Ranch features a Custom Millwork mudroom closet and shaker cabinets. The classically detailed arched doorways and original wainscot paneling in the living room, dining room, stair hall and bedrooms were kept and refinished, as were the many original red brick fireplaces found in most rooms. These and other Traditional features were kept to balance the contemporary renovations resulting in a Transitional style throughout the home. Large windows and French doors were added to allow ample natural light to enter the home. The mainly white interior enhances this light and brightens a previously dark home.

This spectacular family home situated above Lake Hodges in San Diego with sweeping views, was a complete interior and partial exterior remodel. Having gone untouched for decades, the home presented a unique challenge in that it was comprised of many cramped, unpermitted rooms and spaces that had been added over the years, stifling the home's true potential. Our team gutted the home down to the studs and started nearly from scratch.
The end result is simply stunning. Light, bright, and modern, the new version of this home demonstrates the power of thoughtful architectural planning, creative problem solving, and expert design details.

Interior design, space planning and architectural details converge thoughtfully in this transformative project. A 15-year old, 9,000 sf. home with generic interior finishes and odd layout needed bold, modern, fun and highly functional transformation for a large bustling family. To redefine the soul of this home, texture and light were given primary consideration. Elegant contemporary finishes, a warm color palette and dramatic lighting defined modern style throughout. A cascading chandelier by Stone Lighting in the entry makes a strong entry statement. Walls were removed to allow the kitchen/great/dining room to become a vibrant social center. A minimalist design approach is the perfect backdrop for the diverse art collection. Yet, the home is still highly functional for the entire family. We added windows, fireplaces, water features, and extended the home out to an expansive patio and yard.
The cavernous beige basement became an entertaining mecca, with a glowing modern wine-room, full bar, media room, arcade, billiards room and professional gym.
Bathrooms were all designed with personality and craftsmanship, featuring unique tiles, floating wood vanities and striking lighting.
This project was a 50/50 collaboration between Rodwin Architecture and Kimball Modern

This long narrow laundry room is a feature packed work horse of a room. Dual entry points facilitate the delivery of groceries and easy access to a powder room from the back yard. A laundry sink with drying rack above provides an opportunity to hand wash and dry clothes as well as clean just caught crab. Side by side laundry machines are separated by a pull-out cabinet for laundry soap and more. Wall and tall cabinets provide space for a multitude of items. A boot bench allows occupants to hang up coats/backpacks as well as take shoes off at a convenient location. The wall opposite the laundry machines has additional coat hooks and seven feet of two level shoe cubbies.
The cheerful cement Spanish tile floor can inspire occupants to do household chores and is lovely sight to return home to each day.
