This beautiful open concept kitchen and dining room area features white inset cabinetry, Wolf appliances, a honed Bohemian Gray Granite countertop, custom hood cover, gold lighting details and a full porcelain backsplash. This home retained it's Baltimore city charm whilst opening up the space by removing a wall separating the kitchen and dining room and refinishing the hardwood floors.

An all-white kitchen exemplifies timeless beauty. The laminate countertops, which are combined perfectly with Teltos Quartz Slab - Dove White for the perimeter, island, and backsplash, and the white cabinets give the appearance of a traditional timeless charm. The kitchen floor had a thorough renovation, with luxury vinyl tile installed throughout. Appliances, which include a range, refrigerator, microwave, oven, and the extremely distinctive custom commercial fire suppression hood, were also incorporated. Other design features also included 2 undermount sinks with a brushed nickel faucet. The whole concept is appealing since it is bright, sharp, and clean.

For this ski-in, ski-out mountainside property, the intent was to create an architectural masterpiece that was simple, sophisticated, timeless and unique all at the same time. The clients wanted to express their love for Japanese-American craftsmanship, so we incorporated some hints of that motif into the designs.
This kitchen design was all about function. The warmth of the walnut cabinetry and flooring and the simplicity of the contemporary cabinet style and open shelving leave room for the gorgeous blue polished quartzite slab focal point used for the oversized island and backsplash. The perimeter countertops are contrasting black textured granite. The high cedar wood ceiling and exposed curved steel beams are dramatic and reveal a roofline nodding to a traditional pagoda design. Striking bronze hanging lights span the space. Vertically grain-matched large drawers provide plenty of storage and the compact pantry’s strategic design fits a coffee maker and Mila appliances.

This kitchen renovation was part of a larger, extensive project that merged two units into one at a Central West End condominium building. The kitchen design contrasts the existing concrete of the building structure with a refined palette of cherry, oak, and polished natural stone. Cherry casework at the perimeter of the kitchen conceals mechanical systems and provides storage and display space. The dropped ceiling — clad in locally sourced white oak — provides a textural grain towards the Basilica and conceals mechanical systems. Integrated LED strip lighting further emphasizes the directionality towards the Basilica. Polished, vein-cut quartzite at the countertops and backsplash contrasts with the exposed concrete column and ceiling. The adjacent eating area is anchored by a long, wall–mounted cherry credenza. A pendant light hanging above the table provides a soft luminosity and adds a touch of color, while views to the south bring the scale of the city into the condominium.

The architect’s plans had a single island with large windows on both main walls. The one window overlooked the unattractive side of a neighbor’s house while the other was not large enough to see the beautiful large back yard. The kitchen entry location made the mudroom extremely small and left only a few design options for the kitchen layout. The almost 14’ high ceilings also gave lots of opportunities for a unique design, but care had to be taken to still make the space feel warm and cozy.
After drawing four design options, one was chosen that relocated the entry from the mudroom, making the mudroom a lot more accessible. A prep island across from the range and an entertaining island were included. The entertaining island included a beverage refrigerator for guests to congregate around and to help them stay out of the kitchen work areas. The small island appeared to be floating on legs and incorporates a sink and single dishwasher drawer for easy clean up of pots and pans.
