In the heart of Tuscany, in the countryside surrounding Florence, an old and finely restored farmhouse holds the latest project by Officine Gullo. The project results from the collaboration with the architects Carlo Ludovico Poccianti, Francesca Garagnani and Carlo De Pinto, owners of the well-known Florentine architects’ office Archflorence. This creation, which by no coincidence is named Chianti Red & Burnished Brass, fits into a kitchen with warm tones, characterized by high durmast wooden beamed ceilings, old brick arches and traditional tile floor. A unique and unmistakable style able to combine, in an impeccable way, the classical charm of forms, with an ancient style, and the more modern and elegant technologies available in your kitchen. It results in the pleasant feeling of living luxury and beauty in a place where any detail derives from research and handicraft manufacturing and where cooking tools are perfectly linked to those of a professional kitchen for top-quality catering. This project consists of a cooktop with remarkable dimensions (cm 308 x 70) characterized by a highly thick top made of brushed steel and equipped with a pasta cooker, 4 highly performant gas burners, smooth frytop with gloss finishing, and a sink with a mixer made of burnished brass. The cooking appliance completes, in the lower part, with two big dimension ovens, a food warmer together with a container with a door and drawers. In the middle of the room an island is located, embellished by an elegant and practical 9.6 cm thick wooden top equipped with drawers, pull-out elements and doors. Above the island, there is a practical shelf holding pots made of burnished brass. This place is embellished also by an enclosing woodwork wall with a grey finishing: inside, the refrigerator with the freezer stands out equipped with a “home dialog” and a flap made of brass on the door protecting the control panel, and a built-in microwave oven. The structure of the kitchen is made of stainless steel, highly thick, stove enamelled, with profiles and details made of brushed brass and wooden handles. Like any creation by Officine Gullo, it is possible to fully customize the composition of the cooking appliances, from their dimensions to the composition of the hob, up to the engraving of handles or to colours.

Welcome to the ultimate surf bar. This pool house with sweeping views of Nantucket was designed for entertaining – no detail was overlooked. Bleached white oak cubbies in the entry lead into the great room with an expansive bar that seats 8. A full true working bar, it boasts custom stainless steel countertops that integrate into a sink with speed rack, as well as beer taps for a kegerator and an icemaker. Gleaming floating glass shelves are flanked by a wine cooler and paneled freezer/refrigeration unit. Shiplap walls frame the space while the retractable doors open to provide sweeping views of Nantucket. The catering kitchen is located behind the main bar, featuring a 146 bottle wine cooler, AV closet, pantry for storage, and a secondary bar.

Garden Retreat have been working with Mr & Mrs M with a view to installing a garden room kitchen, and the great thing about it is it sited on a beautiful terrace that has absolutely fantastic views from the New Forest across to the Isle of Wight and to site the building it will have to be craned up onto the terrace. The first part of the project will be to remove the old summerhouse and extend and level the base in readiness for the new building. This is one project we are really looking forward too……… This contemporary garden building is constructed using an external cedar clad and bitumen paper to ensure any damp is kept out of the building. The walls are constructed using a 75mm x 38mm timber frame, 50mm Celotex and a 12mm inner lining grooved ply to finish the walls. The total thickness of the walls is 100mm which lends itself to all year round use. The floor is manufactured using heavy duty bearers, 75mm Celotex and a 15mm ply floor which can either be carpeted or a vinyl floor can be installed for a hard wearing and an easily clean option. We now install a laminated floor as a standard in 4 colours, please contact us for further details. The roof is insulated and comes with an inner ply, metal roof covering, underfelt and internal spot lights. Also within the electrics pack there is consumer unit, 3 double sockets and a switch although as this particular building will be a kitchen there are 6 sockets.. We also install sockets with built in USB charging points which is very useful and this building also has external spots to light up the porch area which is now standard within the package. This particular model was supplied with one set of 1200mm wide anthracite grey uPVC multi-lock French doors and one 600mm anthracite grey uPVC sidelights which provides a modern look and lots of light. In addition, it has a 900 x 400 vent window to the left elevation for ventilation if you do not want to open the French doors. The building is designed to be modular so during the ordering process you have the opportunity to choose where you want the windows and doors to be. You can add a breakfast bar or counter to your existing kitchen units, or stick with a good old-fashioned dining table if you don’t need the extra work surfaces. That said, if you do have the room, take a look at some kitchen island ideas to see if the designs inspire you for your kitchen. There are a huge variety of island designs to cater to different needs – you can have sinks, ovens, hobs, wine storage and all sorts of drawers and organisers built-in, you can have separate bars and counters that extend from your island, or you could go for a kitchen island on wheels to make your kitchen layout more versatile.

How do I choose my kitchen units and cabinets?

When picking out kitchen units and cupboard styles for a fitted kitchen, you’ll first want to consider the more practical questions – how many units do you need? How many cupboards and drawers do you need? Do you need extra kitchen storage built into your units? It’s always best to overestimate how much kitchen storage you’ll need as we all tend to have a habit of filling up whatever current space we have to the maximum. Next you can consider kitchen cabinet style and colour. Shaker style cabinets and raised and recessed panel cabinets offer a more traditional kitchen cabinet look, while flat panel cabinet doors tend to lend more to the modern and contemporary style. However, going for raised or recessed panel work in a striking colour such as dark blue, green or black can still work with contemporary kitchen ideas. White kitchens can give a sleek and clean feel, but remember you may have to do a bit more cleaning of those cupboard doors if you want everything to stay shiny and fresh. Of course, grey kitchens are the neutral colour choice du jour and can be paired with pale and rich shades alike if you want your fitted kitchen cupboards to contrast with your worktop, splashback, floor, or all of the above. Exposed shelving and storage is also popular for eclectic, Scandi and industrial-inspired looks, so you could opt for glass-fronted cabinets or no wall-mounted cabinets at all. Remember that this will require more restraint in what you can store and more effort in keeping it looking presentable compared to what is stored away hastily behind cupboard doors. Whilst a large kitchen pantry is the dream of most homeowners, it can’t always be a reality. However, there are now lots of pull out compartments and drawers with trays and shelving that can act as mini kitchen pantries, and you can install handy cupboard organisers that fit onto the inside of the door to make the most of your cupboard space. You can also look at corner drawers and cupboards that open up to reveal lots of extra storage. Rails or small shelves along your kitchen walls or splashback can help with hanging utensils or pans, or storing small items like herbs and spices in an usually empty space.
