Frenchs Cabinet Gallery llcThis custom beverage center was designed around the clients new Sub-Zero wine cooler. The existing walls were not deep enough to accommodate the new cooler, so we centered it and added decorative angled flutes on the sides to coordinate with the rest of the kitchen. Glass shelves and beveled glass doors highlight the wine glass collection. Roll out trays in each base cabinet allow for easy access to liquor and other beverage items. This multi-functional space serves as a desk, beverage center and hutch.

Cabinet InnovationsAll wall cabinets have mullion doors with gold highlighting and recessed bottoms for under cabinet lighting. The custom 60" hood is finished off with columns with burl inserts to either side. The island ends feature fluted turned posts with acanthus leaves and bun feet. Cabinets are Brookhaven, featuring the Winterhaven Raised door style with a Candlelight finish with Black Glaze on Maple.

mackmiller design+buildThe sink base features two full extension rollouts that handle trash and recyclables in the front and have divided storage for cleaning supplies in the back. No more getting on your hands and knees to access this cabinet. Idea found in Fine Homebuilding magazine. Small tilt drawer holds sponges.
The cabinet doors are ivory painted finish and hand applied chocolate brown glaze. These raised-panel cabinets have full overlay doors and drawers, constructed with high precision to maintain a 1/8” gap between every side of a door and drawer.
The flooring is #3 American Black walnut character grade.

Bowers Design BuildIncluded in the renovation was a new kitchen with separate beverage area for entertaining.
This 1961 Cape Cod was well-sited on a beautiful acre of land in a Washington, DC suburb. The new homeowners loved the land and neighborhood and knew the house could be improved. Inside, the owners wanted to achieve a feeling of warmth and comfort. The family does a lot of casual entertaining and they wanted to achieve lots of open spaces that flowed well, one into another. So, circulation on the main living level was important. They wanted to use lots of natural materials, like reclaimed wood floors, stone, and granite. In addition, they wanted the house to be filled with light, using lots of large windows where possible.
When all was said and done, the homeowners got a home they love on the land they cherish. The kitchen is separated from the family room by a two-sided, stone, fireplace. The after space now houses the beverage center, a powder room (behind the cabinetry wall) and a hallway transition space from the kitchen to the sunroom. This project was truly satisfying and the homeowners LOVE their new residence.
