Kitchen and dining room remodel with gray and white shaker style cabinetry, and a beautiful pop of pink on the tile backsplash! We removed the wall between kitchen and dining area to extend the footprint of the kitchen, added sliding glass doors out to existing deck to bring in more natural light, and added an island with seating for informal eating and entertaining. The two-toned cabinetry with a darker color on the bases grounds the airy and light space. We used a pink iridescent ceramic tile backsplash, Quartz "Calacatta Clara" countertops, porcelain floor tile in a marble-like pattern, Smoky Ash Gray finish on the cabinet hardware, and open shelving above the farmhouse sink. Stainless steel appliances and chrome fixtures accent this gorgeous gray, white and pink kitchen.

A series of small cramped rooms at the back of this clients house made the spaces inefficient and non-functional. By removing walls and combining the spaces, the kitchen was allowed to span the entire width of the back of the house. A combination of painted and wood finishes ties the new space to the rest of the historic home while also showcasing the colorful and eclectic tastes of the client.

This modern handles kitchen has been designed to maximise the space. Well proportioned L-shaped island with built in table is in the heart of the room providing wonderful space for the young family where cooking, eating and entertaining can take place. This design successfully provides and an excellent alternative to the classic rectangular Island and separate dinning table. It provides not just an additional work surface for preparations of family meals, but also combines the areas well still providing lots of space at the garden end for a busy young family and entertaining. A natural beauty of wood grain brings warmth to this matt white cabinets by use of thick walnut framing around the tall units and incorporating it into the island, table and bench seating. Using 12mm porcelain worktop in Pure white which peacefully blends with the kitchen also meant that clients were able to use pattern tiles as wall splash back and on the floor to define the island in the middle of the room. Of course you might be constricted by space, but try to envisage the easiest and most efficient layout based on how you usually like to cook and prepare your food. However, if the layout doesn’t work, especially if you have a small kitchen, then there’s no necessity to add in a kitchen island. You can add a breakfast bar or counter to your existing kitchen units, or stick with a good old-fashioned dining table if you don’t need the extra work surfaces. There are a huge variety of island designs to cater to different needs – you can have sinks, ovens, hobs, wine storage and all sorts of drawers and organisers built-in, you can have separate bars and counters that extend from your island, or you could go for a kitchen island on wheels to make your kitchen layout more versatile.

How do I choose my kitchen units and cabinets?

When picking out kitchen units and cupboard styles for a fitted kitchen, you’ll first want to consider the more practical questions – how many units do you need? It’s always best to overestimate how much kitchen storage you’ll need as we all tend to have a habit of filling up whatever current space we have to the maximum. Shaker style cabinets and raised and recessed panel cabinets offer a more traditional kitchen cabinet look, while flat panel cabinet doors tend to lend more to the modern and contemporary style.
