La cucina di Mac MaHome è di Ikea, realizzata su misura. Basi e pensili si alternano solo su uno dei due lati. Il colore, un verde salvia dal sottotono freddo, risalta immediatamente visto il contrasto con le pareti chiare. Le piastrellino a parete, preesistenti, sono state modificate dipingendole. Una veletta in cartongesso sormonta i pensili. Dei faretti incassati nel rilassamento permettono di illuminare il piano di lavoro.

Due to the property being a small single storey cottage, the customers wanted to make the most of the views from the rear of the property and create a feeling of space whilst cooking. The customers are keen cooks and spend a lot of their time in the kitchen space, so didn’t want to be stuck in a small room at the front of the house, which is where the kitchen was originally situated. They wanted to include a pantry and incorporate open shelving with minimal wall units, and were looking for a colour palette with a bit of interest rather than just light beige/creams.

This gorgeous dark grey shaker kitchen-diner is a fantastic living space in a terraced house. Compact Kitchen Our clients wanted an L-shaped kitchen that would work well in the compact space they had. They preferred to avoid doing any additional building work. As keen cooks, our clients wanted a space that would be a daily joy to be in. They had a clear idea of the design aesthetic they wanted to achieve, with the dark characterful doors, brass handles and clean geometrical tiling. It was important that their new kitchen reflected their style and character, as well as provide them with a place to relax. A "living kitchen" is probably a good description. The result is a beautiful new space, where they enjoy spending their time. Our clients say: “We're absolutely thrilled with our new kitchen and the service provided by Sheffield Sustainable Kitchens. Throughout the process we have felt listened to and our ideas valued, with no hints of a hard sell for things we didn't want or need. We wouldn't hesitate to use them again.” The Kitchen Ingredients: The kitchen features solid timber doors in gun metal grey combined with beautiful iroko hardwood worktops, reclaimed from a school science lab. We designed and created the freestanding larder, which provides our clients with essential storage for their dry goods. Cooking a lot from scratch, this full height unit gives them an instant overview of all their ingredients. The open shelving on the other side of the kitchen makes the most of the shallow space between the worktop and the door leading to upstairs. A sustainable set of kitchen cabinets forms the base for the entire kitchen. These cabinets are super sustainable, as they are made from a special eco-board consisting of 100% recycled timber. They are glued and dowelled, and then set rigidly square in a press. Starting off square, they stay square - the perfect foundation for a solid kitchen. Guaranteed for 15 years, we expect them to last much longer. Exactly what you want when you're investing in a new kitchen. The longer a kitchen lasts, the more sustainable it is.

However, if the layout doesn’t work, especially if you have a small kitchen, then there’s no necessity to add in a kitchen island. You can add a breakfast bar or counter to your existing kitchen units, or stick with a good old-fashioned dining table if you don’t need the extra work surfaces. There are a huge variety of island designs to cater to different needs – you can have sinks, ovens, hobs, wine storage and all sorts of drawers and organisers built-in, you can have separate bars and counters that extend from your island, or you could go for a kitchen island on wheels to make your kitchen layout more versatile.

How do I choose my kitchen units and cabinets?

When picking out kitchen units and cupboard styles for a fitted kitchen, you’ll first want to consider the more practical questions – how many units do you need? How many cupboards and drawers do you need? Do you need extra kitchen storage built into your units? It’s always best to overestimate how much kitchen storage you’ll need as we all tend to have a habit of filling up whatever current space we have to the maximum. Next you can consider kitchen cabinet style and colour. Shaker style cabinets and raised and recessed panel cabinets offer a more traditional kitchen cabinet look, while flat panel cabinet doors tend to lend more to the modern and contemporary style. However, going for raised or recessed panel work in a striking colour such as dark blue, green or black can still work with contemporary kitchen ideas. White kitchens can give a sleek and clean feel, but remember you may have to do a bit more cleaning of those cupboard doors if you want everything to stay shiny and fresh. However, there are now lots of pull out compartments and drawers with trays and shelving that can act as mini kitchen pantries, and you can install handy cupboard organisers that fit onto the inside of the door to make the most of your cupboard space. You can also look at corner drawers and cupboards that open up to reveal lots of extra storage.
