Das ehemalige Büro der Familie war sehr groß und die eigentliche Küche sehr klein. Die Räume wurden deswegen getauscht. Es wurde eine neue Elektro- und Sanitärinstallation getätigt, was durch den darunterlegenden Keller einfach zu lösen war. Die Schränke wurden von Makhaya Design geplant und vom Schreiner gebaut.

Kitchen renovation for a family home in the suburb of Wahroonga. The kitchen space has been enlarged by removing a wall and pushing into an adjoining room. Large sliding doors now connect the kitchen/dining room to an outdoor entertaining space. The kitchen is minimalist in appearance but remains very practical through the use of integrated handles, slimline handles and a well designed layout. This clean, contemporary, white kitchen, in a New York City penthouse, was designed by Bilotta's Goran Savic and Regina Bilotta in collaboration with Jennifer Post of Jennifer Post Design. The cabinetry is Bilotta’s contemporary line, Artcraft. A flat panel door in a high-gloss white lacquer finish, the base cabinet hardware is a channel system while the tall cabinets have long brushed stainless pulls. All of the appliances are Miele, either concealed behind white lacquer panels or featured in their “Brilliant White” finish to keep the clean, integrated design. On the island, the Gaggenau cooktop sits flush with the crisp white Corian countertop; on the parallel wall the sink is integrated right into the Corian top. The mirrored backsplash gives the illusion of a more spacious kitchen – after all, large, eat-in kitchens are at a premium in Manhattan apartments! At the same time it offers view of the cityscape on the opposite side of the apartment. We designed this handless Shaker kitchen for a beautiful family home in the stunning Bedfordshire countryside. The super-sized island is perfect for storage, food prep and eating. It's topped with Bianco Eclipsia Quartzite which is a natural product unlike the usual Quartz and the cabinets are painted in Farrow & Ball's Downpipe. The sink run, wall units and large mantel have been cleverly colour matched to the Everhot Range Cooker. For a complimentary look-and-feel to the island, the worktop here is a naturally textured Steel Grey Satinato Granite. The furniture has been finished off perfectly with 20mm thick polished Silestone worktops in a rougui lena colour which adds to the warm and inviting feel of the kitchen. The under-mounted sink by Blanco helps maintain the streamlined look whilst the bronze mirror splashbacks help bounce light around the room, emphasising the open and welcoming ambiance. LED lighting has been used throughout the room, particularly around the ceiling box and breakfast area helping to highlight the key design features.

Of course you might be constricted by space, but try to envisage the easiest and most efficient layout based on how you usually like to cook and prepare your food. Should I include a kitchen island?

Kitchen island ideas are abundant these days; it seems most kitchen designs include a kitchen island, if not multiple islands. However, if the layout doesn’t work, especially if you have a small kitchen, then there’s no necessity to add in a kitchen island. You can add a breakfast bar or counter to your existing kitchen units, or stick with a good old-fashioned dining table if you don’t need the extra work surfaces. That said, if you do have the room, take a look at some kitchen island ideas to see if the designs inspire you for your kitchen. There are a huge variety of island designs to cater to different needs – you can have sinks, ovens, hobs, wine storage and all sorts of drawers and organisers built-in, you can have separate bars and counters that extend from your island, or you could go for a kitchen island on wheels to make your kitchen layout more versatile.

How do I choose my kitchen units and cabinets?

When picking out kitchen units and cupboard styles for a fitted kitchen, you’ll first want to consider the more practical questions – how many units do you need? How many cupboards and drawers do you need? Do you need extra kitchen storage built into your units? It’s always best to overestimate how much kitchen storage you’ll need as we all tend to have a habit of filling up whatever current space we have to the maximum. Next you can consider kitchen cabinet style and colour. Shaker style cabinets and raised and recessed panel cabinets offer a more traditional kitchen cabinet look, while flat panel cabinet doors tend to lend more to the modern and contemporary style. However, going for raised or recessed panel work in a striking colour such as dark blue, green or black can still work with contemporary kitchen ideas. White kitchens can give a sleek and clean feel, but remember you may have to do a bit more cleaning of those cupboard doors if you want everything to stay shiny and fresh. However, there are now lots of pull out compartments and drawers with trays and shelving that can act as mini kitchen pantries, and you can install handy cupboard organisers that fit onto the inside of the door to make the most of your cupboard space. You can also look at corner drawers and cupboards that open up to reveal lots of extra storage.
