Kitchen Architecture LtdThe bulthaup kitchen in this open-plan living space needed to effortlessly link the different zones. This is a space where communication is easy, with less formal bar seating connecting the sunken lounge and outdoor entertaining, whilst the prep and cooking areas make it easy for the cook to entertain guests at the dining table.
Mon Concept Habitation - LondonThe kitchen is appreciated for its fresh, bright look, achieved with olive-green cupboard fronts that contrast with the white marble effect worktops and splashback. The adjacent dining area is airy yet ultra-cosy. The empty space above the existing boiler has been used to install an adjustable shelf system that serves as Romeo's playground.
Studio FabbriThis project opened up the kitchen space and connection to the garden by adding a side return. This created a larger kitchen/dining room and incorporated a utility space and separate ground floor WC into the scheme.
British Standard by Plain EnglishA white kitchen, colour blocked though, by a dark contrasting island with ribbed sink and a run of tall cupboards drenched in blue. Nothing dull here. Copper accents add form and weight, a tonal extractor fan and archway into the tiny (but mighty) utility room perform their architectural duties. Traditional marble worktops add a final authoritative point.
Davonport Kitchen & HomeAfter living in their grade II listed country house for over 3 years, Greg and Karen felt that the size of their kitchen was disproportionate to the rest of the property. Greg commented, “We liked the existing Aga and mantel set-up, but the room was just too small for the house and needed to be updated.” With that in mind, they got in touch with Davonport to help design their dream country kitchen extension.
Set in four-acre grounds with six bedrooms and five reception rooms, the kitchen in the stunning, heavily-timbered property was very compact and isolated from the rest of the home, with no space for formal dining.
Taking the decision to extend the space by more than half again, the couple created room for a spacious kitchen-diner, overlooking their landscaped gardens.
Retaining the existing Aga range oven and mantel was a top priority. The brief was to create a classic style kitchen incorporating a formal area for dining and entertaining guests, including modern appliances to use when the Aga was inactive.
Davonport Tillingham style cabinets with curved pilasters were chosen because of their timeless style and appeal. They were hand-painted in soft neutrals (Farrow and Ball’s Pointing and Green Smoke), topped with an opulent black granite worktop, and finished with polished nickel handles to complete the classic look.
Split into three main zones for cooking, dining, and entertaining, the new room is spacious and airy, reflecting the generous proportions of the rest of the property. In fact, to look at it, you would think it was part of the original property.
A generous rectangular island with breakfast bar frames the kitchen area, providing ample space for food prep and informal seating for two. The new extension also accommodates a large table for formal dining, which is positioned at the end of the room, benefiting from a range of views of the property’s picturesque gardens.

The Brief
This Worthing client sought a stylish upgrade on their previous kitchen, swapping an old monochrome kitchen for something a little more colourful.
As well as a new theme, it was also up to designer Phil to incorporate a traditional element to match the style of this property, incorporating useful storage options. This client was also looking for a full flooring improvement which would help to integrate a dining and seating area into this vast space.
Design Elements
To suit the space designer Phil has created a great layout which incorporates all the elements of this project brief, with the bulk of amenities centred around a range cooker. Extra storage is provided in tall units that run all the way towards the dining and living area of this property.
The theme is comprised of Virginia shaker furniture from British supplier Mereway in colours sea mist and pebble grey.
Traditional features have been included in this project in the form of a butler style sink and herringbone flooring from Karndean. The flooring has been fitted by our expert team, and runs throughout this whole space to create a luxurious feel.
The chimney breast surrounding the range looks original, but has been built out by our installation team to add a further traditional element. Phil has added further storage either side of the range in the form of discrete cabinetry.
Special Inclusions
A key part of this design was creating a communal feel in the kitchen. To accomplish this, great care has been taken to incorporate the seating and dining area into the design making the vast room feel connected. To add to this element a peninsula island has been included with space for three to sit.
Around the kitchen, solid quartz surfaces have been opted for, with Silestone’s lusso finish nicely complimenting the theme of the space.
Project Highlight
To integrate the required storage, designer Phil has used a number of clever solutions to provide organised and maximised storage space.
An impressive pantry is built into tall units, with corner units and a pull out pantry also in the design. Feature end unit storage provides a nice place to store decorative cook books.
The End Result
The end result is a kitchen and dining space the ticks all boxes. A great design incorporates the traditional features, storage requirements and extra inclusions this client desired to create a wonderful kitchen space.

Higham FurnitureWe collaborated closely with our client’s interior designer to create this alluring space. What really stands out is the homely yet sophisticated atmosphere we managed to achieve. Our exclusive inset handles in Satin Nickel paired with Little Greene’s Lead Grey bring a cool, clean edge to the cabinetry. Large skylights and Crittall doors allow natural light to permeate the room, adding to the fresh and airy ambiance.
Frome InteriorsA very traditional kitchen in a beautiful Georgian home. The kitchen was designed around the Aga and an antique table as the focal points. The client wanted a calm and elegant space which felt as if it belonged to the house. The very simple cabinetry with no modern appliances on show creates a harmonious space, perfect for entertaining and family life. The traditional brass ironmongery and taps will age beautifully, as will the stunning marble tops and splashback. The shelf adds space for displaying treasured possessions and hides some practical lighting for the worktops. The modern fridge freezer is hidden in an old walk in pantry which provides space for food storage as well. The wall units which surround an existing archway to the snug form the perfect space for storing glassware and crockery.
AmberthThe kitchen accommodates a full set of Neff appliances, and an Air Uno vented hob.
We also installed this Ceasarstone Quartz worktop, and behind, metro style tiles to the splashback in teal, to add a pop of colour against the white cabinetry.
We also exposed the original metal beams which became a feature of this apartment.
