Bringing light and more functionality to a 20 year old kitchen was the goal for this extensive remodel. The homeowner worked with Kitchen Designer, Amanda Ortendahl of our North Attleboro location to update what was a dark wood G-shaped kitchen they had installed when they built the home 20 years earlier. The new design incorporates a large working island with ample seating for entertaining, homework and casual meals. The cabinets incorporate substantial crown molding and soar all the way to the ceiling adding to the feeling of height and spaciousness. The cabinets are all by Fieldstone Cabinetry. The perimeter cabinets are a painted finish in the color White. The island, hood and wine bar are Rattan Stain on walnut wood. The countertop and backsplash are Brunello Element Quartz. The plumbing fixtures are the Litze collection from Brizo in Luxe Gold. The coordinating hardware is from Top Knobs in their Honey Bronze finish. Remodel by Maynard Construction BRC, Inc. This condo kitchen remodel completely transformed the space! We removed the builder-grade wood cabinetry that was originally installed in the building and put in sleek matte lacquer cabinets with Caesarstone countertops and full-height backsplash. The appliances also got an upgrade to a full Miele package! The wall on the left side of the island was originally solid and blocked the view of the space from the entry. We opened in up to become a "picture frame" wall since we couldn't remove the entire thing due to plumbing and electrical running through it. The result is a much brighter, open kitchen with far more storage!

How do I choose my kitchen units and cabinets?

Shaker style cabinets and raised and recessed panel cabinets offer a more traditional kitchen cabinet look, while flat panel cabinet doors tend to lend more to the modern and contemporary style. However, going for raised or recessed panel work in a striking colour such as dark blue, green or black can still work with contemporary kitchen ideas. White kitchens can give a sleek and clean feel, but remember you may have to do a bit more cleaning of those cupboard doors if you want everything to stay shiny and fresh. Of course, grey kitchens are the neutral colour choice du jour and can be paired with pale and rich shades alike if you want your fitted kitchen cupboards to contrast with your worktop, splashback, floor, or all of the above. What sort of kitchen lighting should I go for?
