Dieses Projekt widmet sich dem Dachgeschossausbau eines historischen Gebäudes mit einer tiefgreifenden baukonstruktiven Grundsanierung. Hierbei wurden zwei Wohnungen zu einer großzügigen Einheit zusammengeführt, wobei besonderes Augenmerk auf die Optimierung der Erschließung gelegt wurde, um ein nahtloses und harmonisches Wohngefühl zu schaffen. Der Grundriss wurde mit einer offenen Raumgestaltung konzipiert, die von weiten Sichtbezügen geprägt ist. Dabei wird die natürliche Helligkeit gekonnt eingefangen, um eine atmosphärische Weite zu erzeugen. Die Gestaltung folgt einer minimalistischen Ästhetik mit klaren Linien und einer ehrlichen Betonung funktionaler Details. Die Farbpalette im Inneren des Gebäudes ist ruhig und zurückhaltend gehalten. Sanfte Nuancen von Weiß schaffen eine subtile Atmosphäre, während gezielte Akzente aus Messing und geölter Eiche eine warme und organische Note hinzufügen. Diese Materialien fügen sich nahtlos in das Gesamtkonzept ein und betonen die sorgfältig ausgewählten Details. Besonderes Augenmerk wurde auf die Gestaltung des Kinderzimmers gelegt, die durch einen Treppenschrank mit einer integrierten Lerngalerie verbunden ist. Dieses durchdachte Element erweckt mit seiner hochwertigen Ausführung und schlichten Eleganz eine inspirierende Atmosphäre. Es schafft nicht nur einen praktischen Stauraum, sondern bietet gleichzeitig eine organisierte und ästhetisch ansprechende Umgebung für die junge Bewohnerin. Als Herzstück der Wohnung erstrahlt die offene Wohnküche, die durch eine Arbeitsplatte aus glasiertem Lavastein gekonnt in Szene gesetzt wird. Every remodel comes with its new challenges and solutions. Our client built this home over 40 years ago and every inch of the home has some sentimental value. They had outgrown the original kitchen. It was too small, lacked counter space and storage, and desperately needed an updated look. The homeowners wanted to open up and enlarge the kitchen and let the light in to create a brighter and bigger space. Consider it done! We put in an expansive 14 ft. multifunctional island with a dining nook. We added on a large, walk-in pantry space that flows seamlessly from the kitchen. All appliances are new, built-in, and some cladded to match the custom glazed cabinetry. We even installed an automated attic door in the new Utility Room that operates with a remote. New windows were installed in the addition to let the natural light in and provide views to their gorgeous property.

Dans un but d'optimisation d'espace, le projet a été imaginé sous la forme d'un aménagement d'un seul tenant progressant d'un bout à l'autre du studio et regroupant toutes les fonctions. Ainsi, le linéaire de cuisine intègre de part et d'autres un dressing et une bibliothèque qui se poursuit en banquette pour le salon et se termine en coin bureau, de même que le meuble TV se prolonge en banc pour la salle à manger et devient un coin buanderie au fond de la pièce. Tous les espaces s'intègrent et s'emboîtent, créant une sensation d'unité. L'emploi du contreplaqué sur l'ensemble des volumes renforce cette unité tout en apportant chaleur et luminosité. Ne disposant que d'une pièce à vivre et une salle de bain attenante, un système de panneaux coulissants permet de créer un "coin nuit" que l'on peut transformer tantôt en une cabane cosy, tantôt en un espace ouvert sur le séjour. Ce système de délimitation n'est pas sans rappeler les intérieurs nippons qui ont été une grande source d'inspiration pour ce projet. Le washi, traditionnellement utilisé pour les panneaux coulissants des maisons japonaises laisse place ici à du contreplaqué perforé pour un rendu plus graphique et contemporain.

Failing appliances, poor quality cabinetry, poor lighting and less than ergonomic storage is what precipitated the remodel of this kitchen for a petite chef. The appliances were selected based on the features that would provide maximum accessibility, safety and ergonomics, with a focus on health and wellness. This includes an induction cooktop, electric grill/griddle, side hinged wall oven, side hinged steam oven, warming drawer and counter depth refrigeration. The cabinetry layout with internal convenience hardware (mixer lift, pull-out knife block, pull-out cutting board storage, tray dividers, roll-outs, tandem trash and recycling, and pull-out base pantry) along with a dropped counter on the end of the island with an electrical power strip ensures that the chef can cook and bake with ease with a minimum of bending or need of a step stool, especially when the kids and grandchildren are helping in the kitchen. The new coffee station, tall pantries and relocated island sink allow non-cooks to be in the kitchen without being underfoot. Extending the open shelf soffits provides additional illuminated space to showcase the chef’s extensive collection of M.A. Hadley pottery as well as much needed targeted down lighting over the perimeter countertops. Under cabinet lights provide much needed task lighting. The remodeled kitchen checks a lot of boxes for the chef. There is no doubt who will be hosting family holiday gatherings!
