This kitchen got new white Shaker cabinets that we designed to take advantage of the full ceiling height, with smaller lit display cabinets on top. A pale aqua island and quiet white quartz counters set the backdrop for a stunning aqua zig zag glass tile backsplash that is the showstopper of the space. Nice updates like a wine fridge and appliance garage round out the special touches of this beach house kitchen.

In collaboration with Darcy Tsung Design, we took a small, cramped kitchen and created an open layout for entertaining. The owner is an accomplished chef who wanted a purpose-built kitchen to house all of her specialty items, including pullouts for a Kitchen Aid mixer, a coffee station, and cabinet inserts for knives, spices, and cutting boards. Our traditional, yet still up to date, design was influenced by the owner's antique heirloom dining table and chairs. We seamlessly incorporated that much beloved set of furniture, and gave a prominent place for the owner's colorful artwork.

The homeowners, an eclectic and quirky couple, wanted to renovate their kitchen for functional reasons: the old floors, counters, etc, were dirty, ugly, and not usable; lighting was giant fluorescents, etc. While they wanted to modernize, they also wanted to retain a fun and retro vibe. So we modernized with functional new materials: quartz counters, porcelain tile floors. But by using bold, bright colors and mixing a few fun patterns, we kept it fun. Retro-style chairs, table, and lighting completed the look.

The true farmhouse kitchen. Mixing bold traditional colours, natural elements, shiplap and wooden beamed ceiling details, all make for the perfectly crafted farmhouse. Layering in a traditional farm house sink, and an industrial inspired metal hood fan adds charm and a curated feel to this traditional space. No compromise spared with storage, function or innovation.
Minto Communities Ottawa
The first Net Zero Minto Dream Home:
At Minto Communities, we’re always trying to evolve through research and development. We see building the Minto Dream Home as an opportunity to push the boundaries on innovative home building practices, so this year’s Minto Dream Home, the Hampton—for the first time ever—has been built as a Net Zero Energy home. This means the home will produce as much energy as it consumes.
Carefully considered East-coast elegance:
Returning this year to head up the interior design, we have Tanya Collins. The Hampton is based on our largest Mahogany design—the 3,551 sq. ft. Redwood. It draws inspiration from the sophisticated beach-houses of its namesake. Think relaxed coastal living, a soft neutral colour palette, lots of light, wainscotting, coffered ceilings, shiplap, wall moulding, and grasscloth wallpaper.
* 5,641 sq. ft. of living space
* 4 bedrooms
* 3.5 bathrooms
* Finished basement with oversized entertainment room, exercise space, and a juice bar
* A great room featuring stunning views of the surrounding nature

This art deco home is in a unique location with stunning views of the lake.
The homeowners entertain frequently and needed a larger kitchen that the original so walls were moved to create a dream kitchen for this talented cook. There is a dedicated zone for baking, cooking and making yummy coffees. To reference the art deco era, the kitchen has inlays of art deco motifs in the rear of the walnut cabinets and the range is built in a ziggurat shaped cabinet.
With five bedrooms, this housed needed three bathrooms, so walls moved to make room for them and the ensuite bathroom features a freestanding bath and custom mirror cabinet.
We spent a year planning these unique design details and now that work is completed, the planning process shines with these focal points
