Every now and then, we take on a smaller project with clients who are super fans of Form + Field, entrusting our team to exercise their creativity and produce a design that pushed their boundaries, which ultimately led to a space they love. With an affinity for entertaining, they desired to create a welcoming atmosphere for guests. Although a wall dividing the entryway and kitchen posed initial spatial constraints, we opened the area to create a seamless flow; maximizing the space and functionality of their jewel box kitchen. To marry the couple's favorite colors (blue and green), we designed custom wood cabinetry finished in a deep muted pine green with blue undertones to frame the kitchen; beautifully complementing the custom walnut wooden fixtures found throughout the intimate space.

What a fun yet challenging project. After numerous space plan options, we've finally decided on removing a wall and switching it out with cabinetry that is functional for a kitchen and the dining area. We've added a peninsula at a 120 degree corner to expand the working surface, add bar seating and still keep the space open and inviting from adjoining spaces. Blueberry oak cabinets with satin brass hardware are balanced out with white quartz countertop and gray uppers. Wide plank vinyl helped keep this space masculine and formal while the stairs add a softer touch that's being complimented by warm tone furniture. To tie in warmth and masculinity, we've opted for custom miter-cut shelves in the corner. Windows give us great light and a corner cabinet can block a lot of it out, so floating shelves seemed most appropriate (no visible hardware). With a lot of material and colors, space still seems cohesive and inviting. Very formal, yet ready to be used for entertaining and day to day living. Hale Production Studios

Classic British Kitchen in Mannings Heath, West Sussex Denim blue furniture, sparkling work surfaces and high-tech appliances combine for this contract project The Brief This project was tasked to our contracts team, who were challenged to create a vast kitchen design to suit the requirements of this three-plot barn conversion near to Mannings Heath. With the plot sold, the client sought to make a few theme changes to suit their own personal style. A country-style theme was implemented, and the layout was adjusted to fit other requirements. Design Elements The design fits the country style required by the client, utilising denim blue furniture from our British supplier Mereway. White accents feature in the form of Blanco Orion quartz surfaces and a white metro tiles splashback. The layout is comprised of a long run across the back wall, with a sizeable island space situated in front. A pantry features at the end of the space, with matching furniture choices. Special Inclusions High-calibre appliances were specified from the outset, with German manufacturer Siemens the preferred choice. A single oven and combination oven have been utilised as well as an integrated fridge freezer and dishwasher. A high-tech venting hob from Elica features in the long run, which combines two appliances and removes the need for a traditional extractor hood. For convenience, a double under-mounted sink features as well as integrated waste bins. Undercabinet lighting is fitted beneath wall units which adds a nice ambience in the evening time. Project Highlight The matching utility is a nice feature of this property, which has been designed to match the rest of the kitchen. Wood effect surfaces have been used to add to the country theme. The End Result The end result is a lovely country-style theme, with contemporary elements to suit the property and the style required by this client. This project was undertaken by our contract kitchen team. We juxtaposed bold colors and contemporary furnishings with the early twentieth-century interior architecture for this four-level Pacific Heights Edwardian. The home's showpiece is the living room, where the walls received a rich coat of blackened teal blue paint with a high gloss finish, while the high ceiling is painted off-white with violet undertones. Against this dramatic backdrop, we placed a streamlined sofa upholstered in an opulent navy velour and companioned it with a pair of modern lounge chairs covered in raspberry mohair. An artisanal wool and silk rug in indigo, wine, and smoke ties the space together.

Working alongside our client’s building contractors, we were commissioned to design and make a bespoke in-frame hand-painted kitchen with a stunning island as the central focus. Situated in a 40 sq. metre open plan space, the 16 sq. metre kitchen has a door that leads on to a utility room, also designed by Simon Taylor Furniture. Our clients wanted a traditional in frame hand-painted kitchen with raised and fielded panel doors and end panels with symmetrical framed pilasters on each corner of the island. They required plenty of storage and because of the island’s generous 3m x 1.3m dimensions, we were able to incorporate cupboards on both sides with a recessed area facing the kitchen for two bar stools. For the task side, we made 45cm oak dovetail drawers on either side of 90cm versions at the centre, with a cupboard at one end and a pull-out bin at the other. The drawers at the centre have a 40cm depth in order to sit in front of the concealed ventilation tower of the Novy Panorama 90cm vented downdraft induction hob that is situated flush within the worktop. When in use, the tower rises up by up to 30cm to withdraw cooking odours directly next to the pans, therefore no overhead extraction is required in the room. The island is painted in Hague Blue by Farrow & Ball, the white 20mm worktops are Misty Carrera Quartz by Caesarstone. The run of cabinetry facing the island is painted in Dimpse by Farrow & Ball, includes a wet area with a 60cm Siemens integrated dishwasher within and a white undermount sink by Shaws of Darwen that includes an InSinkerator food waste disposer. A Hestia U-spout tap by Franke sits alongside a Quooker PRO3 Nordic Square boiling water tap. Overhead cupboards are in two sizes and base cabinetry features a two-door utility cupboard. To the left is a tall floor-to-ceiling housing featuring a bank of cooking appliances from the Pureline collection by Miele – a 45cm combination microwave above a 60cm pyrolytic single oven with a 29cm warming drawer. A storage cupboard sits above the appliance bank, with drawer beneath. At the other end of this run is a further floor-to-ceiling door front for a tall integrated larder fridge by Siemens. To the left of the double doors leading to the family room, is a further run of floor-to-ceiling cabinetry, which incorporates a breakfast cabinet with bi-fold doors, a drawer for napkins and cutlery and a two-door cupboard beneath. This is next to a full-size pantry larder with oak internals and spice racks built into the doors. All chrome knobs and hinges are by Crofts and Assinder and the pendant lights are by John Lewis. In order to maintain the symmetry of the open plan room, the ceiling cornicing runs throughout the kitchen above all tall furniture.
