From our Go Fund me Page Feb. 2016 Princess Kaylee is only two and a half years old and was recently diagnosed with cancer. We need your generosity so that we can give her the enchanted room of her dreams as she endures 2.5 years of treatments. We're breaking out our magic wands and designing a gorgeous room for this sweet little girl. With your assistance, we can create a fairy tale space for Kaylee and her family to rest and recover. Kaylee's story hits especially close to home in our tight-knit community. Her mother, Kelly, is an oncology nurse at Rady Children's Hospital. Yes, you read that correctly - her mother has spent the last 8 years compassionately caring after children who have been diagnosed with cancer. In fact, she was one of the dedicated nurses who so wonderfully cared for Savvy Giving by Design's very first recipient, Kasey Harvey. And Kelly is not the only hero in this family. Kaylee's father, Jared, is a local CHP officer who keeps our streets safe and not long ago rescued multiple children after a lengthy stand-off with their abductor. http://www.10news.com/news/chp-officers-relive-moments-in-highway-standoff-121214 Jared and Kelly have two beautiful children. Their son Drew is 5 years-old and daughter Kaylee will turn 3 in August. Kaylee's diagnosis, Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, turned this family's world upside down. While her prognosis is, thankfully, very good (with a 93% cure rate), the treatment will be incredibly arduous. Kaylee is facing 2.5 years of ongoing treatment with periods of intense chemotherapy followed by "maintenance" chemo. As hard as it is to believe, Kaylee's treatment will not be complete until she is 5 years-old and preparing to enter kindergarten. Given the ongoing and onerous treatment regimen that Kaylee faces, Savvy Giving by Design knows that she will need a beautiful and comfortable room where she can rest and be visited by family and friends. Kaylee is currently transitioning out of her crib and we have big intentions for this princess-loving little girl. Our plan is to combine fun and functionality with details and personal touches that will show Kaylee that there is an entire community rallying behind her. We will incorporate Kaylee's favorite colors (pink and purple) and turn her fantasies into reality by installing a built-in castle bed that makes her room feel magical and shows this little girl that anything is possible. This room will have some very personal special touches incorporated into it to pay tribute to Kaylee's fairy godmother. When Kelly was 13, she lost her very best friend, Jessica, to cancer. Kelly paid tribute to her dear friend by naming her daughter Kaylee Jessica and she wholeheartedly believes that Jessica will be watching over her little girl as she travels this difficult road. With sufficient funding, we will also be able to do a little makeover for Kaylee's knight in shining armor, her big brother Drew. We recognize and appreciate that Drew faces a struggle all his own as his little sister battles this disease. Savvy Giving by Design is a the philanthropic arm of Savvy Interiors, Inc. We are registered with the state of California as a nonprofit and awaiting our "formal" 501(c)(3) designation by the IRS. Your donations are tax-deductible. All monies collected will go directly to this space! Any excess funds will be distributed directly to the family. Since late 2014, Savvy Giving by Design has transformed 8 spaces and our ultimate goal is to have sufficient funding to take on one project each month. As stated in our founding documents, "Our mission is to provide comfort, support, and healing to families with a child facing a medical crisis by transforming the interior spaces of their homes at no cost to them". Cet appartement de la ZAC Seguin à Boulogne-Billancourt ne disposant pas de cave, la question du rangement a été centrale dans ce projet de chambre d'enfant. La totalité du dessous de lit est donc utilisée, en partie en penderie et en partie en étagères sur toute sa profondeur. Les marches, mobiles, cachent également une zone de stockage, idéale pour les trésors des enfants. Le lit a été complété par une partie bibliothèque et une petite niche servant de table de nuit. ​ Un bureau intégrant des pots à crayons et une case de rangement dans les mêmes matériaux que le lit vient terminer l'aménagement de cette jolie chambre.

This kids bedroom was originally shared by both brothers and now converted into the younger boy's bedroom. The young teen boys were fully involved in their room update. The design process was guided by their vision of how they will use it in the future, their favourite color choice and special features like the wall murial and bean bag.

This little guy was growing out of his crib and changing table and needed an update to his room. His parents are avid golfers and he in turn has picked up the sport. His parents requested a room that he can grow in to, so the space will last many years before having to redesign it again. His mom suggested a golf theme room and I loved the idea, so we rolled with it. We kept the original plantation shutters and millwork and built a toddler-friendly space he can enjoy for years and years. I had my muralist paint an argyle wall to set the tone. I used new custom furniture combined with some store bought pieces. Accessorizing the space was a fun task. Instead of using store bought items, I had some custom wall art made for him to personalize the space. I had his great grandmother’s golf clubs mounted onto graphic green and white fabric studded with chrome nailheads. An Etsy seller made us a custom metal piece with all their favorite golf brands. Another Etsy seller made us wall hooks fashioned from golf balls. No golf theme room would be complete without a putting green, so had one of those thrown in to so he can practice his putts. He now loves his new room and enjoys spending time in there (not to mention now sleeping in there too!).

However, practicality and versatility when choosing furnishings and decor will ensure that your kids room grows with your child, allowing for updates and replacements without a complete overhaul. Whether you’re looking for girls’ bedroom ideas, ideas for a teenager’s room or playroom ideas, there's a huge range of kids room photos with all sorts of kids’ bedroom designs, furniture and decorating ideas to help you plan your own decorating project.

How do I design a kid’s bedroom?

A child’s bedroom is his or her personal space, where they feel safe and let their imaginations run riot. The room should be fully optimised for play, sleep and study and to that end you want to invest in a good child’s bed, a desk and versatile storage. Vertical use of space, such as a bunk bed over a desk, is a great solution and will further enhance the sense of your child having their own private den. Flood the room with colour, graphic prints and playful details, leaving the design and layout versatile for future changes. Children’s bedroom furniture is an investment so get these to last – opt for full-sized wardrobes and beds, with plenty of additional clothes and toy storage.

What girls’ bedroom and boys’ bedroom ideas are there?

Both girls’ and boys’ bedroom ideas are usually based around certain colours and sometimes it can be tempting to avoid choosing one colour theme to contradict cliches. However, adding your child’s favourite colour with accessories is a great way to keep decor flexible and facilitate any transitions – your daughter may grow out of her rose-tinted glasses, and it’ll be easier to swap out a fuchsia lamp and some wall stickers than a pink sofa and pink walls. The same goes for boys’ bedrooms too; don’t be afraid to add blue colours if that’s what they like, but try to base the decor around their preferences with toys, activities and books, rather than going for stereotypical colours and accessories, and try to keep more permanent features (walls, floor and large furniture) fairly neutral.

How do I design a bedroom for more than one child?

To bunk or not to bunk? That is the question (provided your children are six and above). Bunk beds for kids are a common choice for good reason, as both a space-saver that leaves room for play as well as being a structure that children seem to love (there’s something about those ladders). However, bunk beds also set the scene for all kinds of mischief, so safety is an important consideration. If floor space is an option, then twin beds afford the opportunity to section the room so each child has a space that they can call their own, something that might be necessary if you’re having to combine a girl’s bedroom and boy’s bedroom all in one. Again, this is an opportunity to make the furniture last past childhood – twin beds can also be recycled as guest beds at a later date.

How do I decorate a playroom?

Storage is probably the first thing you’ll want to think about when looking at playroom ideas – toys, books, games, DVDs, pens, pencils, paper and all sorts of fun facilitators will probably feature in your playroom so they’ll all need a place to be stored. Large storage units are often a great idea and they could include built in desks for drawing, writing and hopefully homework. If you can’t get one built in, then consider adding a series of shelves or bookcases; open shelves will make your playroom brighter and more fun instead of hiding colourful toys away in cupboards, anyway. Then it’s time for the real fun – you could add a tepee, TV, playhouse, play mat or lots of squishy chairs and sofas, depending on what your children like to do with their play time. In terms of colour schemes, you’ll usually find that with the collection of toys, games and books in the room, it can’t help but be bright and colourful, so you could keep the walls and floors fairly neutral to highlight this. Or you could pick out one theme and run with it – add a feature wall, wall stickers, posters and cushions, all with similar motifs. Whatever you do, you can take inspiration from the playroom ideas featured in the photos on Houzz. Save your favourites to an ideabook and use them to inspire your playroom, kids or teen bedroom design.
