Colorful Coastal Bedroom When this little girl’s bedroom was installed, she was on the young side. The mom loved the idea of wallpaper, but she was concerned that if it was on the walls her daughter would destroy it. We suggested putting the Walnut wall covering on the ceiling instead. The pattern might have even been too busy for the walls. Used on the ceiling, it draws the eye up. This little girl is very into the princess thing. While an overly pink, princess-themed room would have been over-the-top, we made sure the space felt regal enough for its young inhabitant by installing a high canopy bed and furry shag rug. While the room has plenty of pink, it’s paired with other colors including coral and mint green. Photo Credit: Amy Bartlam

The Brief: Inject some fun for my little man…and gender neutral (no baby blue!). The Solution: A reading corner & ever changing artwork wall. Cool wallpaper. Alternative storage in the form of lockers for both toys and clothes. Fun kitsch lighting to help at bedtime!

With a palette of warm browns and soft raspberries this room, designed for a teenage girl, is sleek and sophisticated. The modular headboard, fabricated from individually upholstered sections of chocolate chenille, serves as a backdrop for the colorful palette of fabrics used for the bed linens and pillows. Any teenage girl would love to sink into her cool, comfy chair when she needs some down time and pull up an ottoman from the foot of her bed. Or, she can lounge on her bed and admire the clever, interlocking art display on the opposite wall. This transitional room will grow with any girl from her early teens through her college years. When planning this custom residence, the owners had a clear vision – to create an inviting home for their family, with plenty of opportunities to entertain, play, and relax and unwind. They asked for an interior that was approachable and rugged, with an aesthetic that would stand the test of time. Amy Carman Design was tasked with designing all of the millwork, custom cabinetry and interior architecture throughout, including a private theater, lower level bar, game room and a sport court. A materials palette of reclaimed barn wood, gray-washed oak, natural stone, black windows, handmade and vintage-inspired tile, and a mix of white and stained woodwork help set the stage for the furnishings. This down-to-earth vibe carries through to every piece of furniture, artwork, light fixture and textile in the home, creating an overall sense of warmth and authenticity.

A bedroom imagined for two sisters in a playful pink and orange palette, this space features matching twin beds with vintage headboards upholstered Robert Allen Design fabric. We selected this headboard design for its curved shape, which was at once classic and contemporary. Bedding from Serena & Lily, an orange bed sham from Pottery Barn, and a custom pillow in Robert Allen Design fabric create a bed that is both youthful and elevated. An original donut painting by Terry Romero Paul provided by Simon Breitbard Gallery rests above each bed. The bedroom walls are covered in orange cerused oak print wallpaper from Nobilis, provided by Kneedler-Fauchère. Custom window treatments in Robert Allen Design fabric, a vintage bedside table wrapped in pink and gold metallic wallpaper from Osborne & Little, and a custom glass lamp from Studio Bel Vetro provided by Quintus create a vibrant yet restful retreat.
