Twisted ElementsWhen we moved offices in 2021 from International Market Square to a new space in Eden Prairie, Minnesota we gave up the access to beautiful gathering spaces that were in arms reach of our studio. So last summer we were thrilled when our building started working with a local landscape company to create gathering spaces outside each unit. They asked us to help collaborate with the paver selection, furnishings, and planters. We can’t wait to use these spaces this spring, summer, and fall!
There are 6 businesses in the front row, with 3 patios and walkways varying in different shapes and sizes. The landscape designer was able to transition small grade changes by adding limestone retaining walls and limestone steps. Now the front of the Valley View Office Complex is updated and uniform with functional outdoor spaces.
greencube garden and landscape designPaying homage to the foundry and its history we have implemented lots of wonderful weathering corten steel in strong geometric wedges. Someone said 'its a bit rusty', we hope you like it, its a rich and developing patina that gets warmer in colour with age and works contextually with the original use of the building. We have designed a garden for a victorian foundry in Walsingham in North Norfolk converted into holiday cottages in the last decade. The foundry originally founded in 1809, making iron castings for farming industry, war casualties ended the male line and so in 1918 it was sold to the Wright family and they continued to trade until 1932, the depression caused its closure. In 1938 it was purchased by the Barnhams who made agricultural implements, pumps, firebowls, backplates, stokers, grates and ornamental fire baskets............ and so we have paid homage to the foundry and its history and implemented lots of wonderful weathering steel. The planting palette inlcudes large leafy hostas, ferns, grasses, hydrangeas and a mix of purple and yellow with a sprinkling of orange perennials.
AJR GreenspaceA compact garden in Portobello transformed after the construction of a new dining extension. The floating concrete bench provides the main focal point whilst a hidden set of corten steps leads up to an elevated seating area, the perfect spot to sip a G&T in the evening sun hanging in a hammock from the pergola. The reclaimed brick patio and lush green shade planting soften the industrial structures whilst a Siberian larch screen conceals a useful storage area at the end.

Abbiamo valorizzato l'ingresso con due zone di cui un'area living e un'area relax con fontana, il tutto contornato da aiuole di graminacee. L'utilizzo di materiali come il corten e il decking doneranno all'ambiente un aspetto molto naturale con colori che richiamano le fioriture autunnali. Abbiamo scelto principalmente la stipa e il miscantus per alleggerire e dare movimento al giardino.

Dan Hartley GardensThe clients are a sociable couple who wanted a garden that had year round interest, low maintenance and that they could entertain in. The garden is covered by a frame work of Oak beams providing a sense of enclosure. In time the scented star jasmine climbers will cover the fences and the beams, planting around the upper garden and below the bespoke corner bench will immerse the space in green. Low maintenance porcelain paving with an inset clay paver feature adds interest. A lounge area, Dining space, BBQ unit and bike store all built in Iroko hard wood. Small gardens have to work hard to balance function with aesthetic!
