Gut renovation of a stately brownstone constructed in 1901 and located on one of the most desirable blocks in Park Slope's historic district. The main floor features beautiful decorative fireplace mantels, ornamental plasterwork ceilings, and original parquet hardwood floors that spread throughout the expansive living/dining area. This fully renovated brownstone boasts a new chef's kitchen complete with Caesarstone countertops and top-of-the-line stainless steel appliances, including an NXR gas range, Bosch dishwasher, and Miele refrigerator. A glazed Moroccan tile backsplash and custom cabinetry bring the space together. The home was also renovated to include a washer/dryer and central A/C.

The home office featured here serves as a design studio. We went with a rich deep green paint for the walls and for the feature we added this Damask wallpaper. The custom wood work featured, runs the entire span of the space. The cinnamon color stain in on the wood is the perfect compliment to the shades of red and gold found throughout the wallpaper. We couldn't find a conference room that would fit exactly. So we located this light blonde stained dining table, that serves two purposes. The table serves as a desk for daily workspace and as a conference table for client and team meetings. From this angle you get to see the custom made drapes that like the cinnamon stained paneling, picks up shades of the reds, golds and greens used throughout the wallpaper and the paint color on the walls.

Office We loved the original built-ins in this space, and knew they needed to always be a part of this house, but these 60-year-old beauties definitely needed a little help. We cleaned up the cabinets and brass hardware, switched out the formica counter for a new quartz top, and painted wall a cheery accent color to liven it up a bit. And voila! We have an office that is the envy of the neighborhood.

A bookcase or nice shelving can create room dividers if you don’t have a whole room to dedicate to a home library, and the benefit of bookcases is that they are movable – you don’t have to stick with one layout it it’s not working. If you don’t want to take up space, shelves hung on the walls will work just as well, and if you really want that authentic library feel then you’ll have to go with built in bookshelves that stretch from floor to ceiling. Next all you need is a comfy chair in amongst the books or a desk if you plan to do work or study from your library. Remember that library areas can be slotted in all around the home – under the stairs, in a corner of your living room or kitchen, as a mezzanine or in a small spare room.
