The other peninsula allows for seating and doubles as a cookbook storage area for the cook, across a wide countertop. The cooking area is contained within the two peninsulas and outlines a work zone extending from the 48" gas range, to the refrigerator, and to the farm sink. The kitchen has been opened up to allow views from one end of the house to the other. Bead board ceilings were hand-finished by the clients. This is part of a medium country u-shaped open concept kitchen photo in Houston with white backsplash, subway tile backsplash, a peninsula and raised panel cabinets.

This transitional kitchen design in Holt proves why dramatic color schemes are becoming a more popular choice for kitchen remodels. The elegant, custom green raised panel cabinetry from Decora is beautifully offset by Top Knobs honey bronze finish hardware. The space has a slight rustic edge with the hardwood flooring, dark Cambria quartz countertop, and marble backsplash combining perfectly to add contrast and texture to the design. Black finish GE appliances add another color contrast, along with the Elkay E-granite black double bowl sink and Kohler faucet. The design includes a built-in buffet area, and upper glass front cabinets with in cabinet lighting, plus undercabinet lights throughout.

This kitchen went through a big change without doing a whole lot to the layout of cabinets.

An open house lot is like a blank canvas. When Mathew first visited the wooded lot where this home would ultimately be built, the landscape spoke to him clearly. Standing with the homeowner, it took Mathew only twenty minutes to produce an initial color sketch that captured his vision - a long, circular driveway and a home with many gables set at a picturesque angle that complemented the contours of the lot perfectly.
The interior was designed using a modern mix of architectural styles – a dash of craftsman combined with some colonial elements – to create a sophisticated yet truly comfortable home that would never look or feel ostentatious.
Features include a bright, open study off the entry. This office space is flanked on two sides by walls of expansive windows and provides a view out to the driveway and the woods beyond. There is also a contemporary, two-story great room with a see-through fireplace. This space is the heart of the home and provides a gracious transition, through two sets of double French doors, to a four-season porch located in the landscape of the rear yard.
This home offers the best in modern amenities and design sensibilities while still maintaining an approachable sense of warmth and ease.

The kitchen has maple cabinets with antique finish. The counters are granite with black absolute granite for backsplashes and island. We used rosa granite for the counters. The hood has a remote blower with stainless steel finish. The window valances match the cabinets in this remodeling detail.
Architectural design for this larger home remodel with additions and luxury floor plan in San Marino created by Roger Perron, design-build contractor, with contributing architects Curt Sturgill and Bob Cooper.
