Inspired by the sugar plantation estates on the island of Barbados, “Orchid Beach” radiates a barefoot elegance.
The bath features a full-size hydrotherapy tub below a large picture window looking out to a mature plumeria. The exquisite chamfered wall tile flows through the shower, and perfectly complements the runway of stunning marble penny tile insert on the floor.
The master bath opens to reveal the orchid conservatory and meditation space. The orchid conservatory features four walls of lattice with oval portholes, an outdoor shower, lovely seating area to enjoy the beautiful flowers, and a relaxing bronze Cupid fountain.
The challenge was to bring the outdoors in with the Orchid Conservatory while maintaining privacy.
It is a dream oasis with an indulgent, spacious spa-like feel.
Carlton EdwardsThe master suite pulls from this dark bronze pallet. A custom stain was created from the exterior. The exterior mossy bronze-green on the window sashes and shutters was the inspiration for the stain. The walls and ceilings are planks and then for a calming and soothing effect, custom window treatments that are in a dark bronze velvet were added. In the master bath, it feels like an enclosed sleeping porch, The vanity is placed in front of the windows so there is a view out to the lake when getting ready each morning. Custom brass framed mirrors hang over the windows. The vanity is an updated design with random width and depth planks. The hardware is brass and bone. The countertop is lagos azul limestone.
Craftsman Design and RenovationThe homeowners desired a more usable layout with timeless appeal in keeping with their historic home. New vanity cabinets with smart storage replaced pedestal sinks. The custom built-in medicine cabinets provide additional spots for bathroom necessities. Classic finishes, black and white hex tile floors, and a soothing green keep the space looking fresh while tying it into the historic roots of the home.
