In a neighborhood full of thirsty, homogenous lawns, the Matloff family garden completes and complements the aesthetic defined by the home's English Manor architecture. While the look is traditional, the garden is an efficient water and energy-saving, habitat expanding powerhouse.

Sculptural agaves, succulents and California native plants punctuate the front landscape complementing the “arroyo seco” rain garden studded with boulders and branches. The rain garden catches 50% of the stormwater runoff from the roof and infiltrates it into the soil. The remaining 50% of the runoff goes to a second rain garden in the back yard.

Another view and another season in this beautiful back yard. Circle-on-circle and curve-on-curve, became the theme for this suburban Minneapolis back yard. A step-out deck connects to the lower screened porch and several outdoor patios. Each curve becomes concentric, as patterns and paths expand throughout the landscape setting. Credit: Tad Anderson. A new poured concrete walkway directs attention to the front door. Gaps in the sidewalk add dynamic lines and allow for water drainage. Drought tolerant, low-maintenance plants were used as there is no irrigation, but these plants look great year-round!

We turned this slippery slope at a children's school into a safe walkway and integrated play space. Plant material was chosen from native, local plant species and are somewhat drought tolerant. All concrete steps and pouring was careful handled by our team of professionals and worked with the school to complete a desired look that will last!
