There was an existing raised pine deck that desperately needed replacing. A small lawn and a small patio with a pergola. The client didn’t like anything about the space and commissioned us for a complete redesign. They wanted their new garden to be filled with colourful plants, raised herb beds and a new deck terrace. Since completion in 2020 we have revisited this project to check up on the garden and this is what it looks like now.

Summer planting in the garden, featuring David Austin Roses, Rosa 'Young Lycidas' and Rosa 'Spirit of Freedom'. Perennial planting included Thalictrum, Dianthus Coronaria and Sedum and Geranium 'Anne Folkard', plus Annual plants Cleome 'Purple Queen'. These provide long flowering into autumn and mix well with grasses Stipa Tenuissima, Stipa Gigantea, for a naturalistic planting style.

Aménagement du jardin privé pour des particuliers basés à Villennes-sur-Seine. Le jardin entour la maison et est aménagé de petits espaces permettant son utilisation pour différents usages. La conception est pensée avec une cohérence paysagère de l'ensemble de la parcelle. La maison située au centre du jardin, offre des points de vue sur des scènes du jardin. L'ensemble du paysage amène le visiteur à se tourner vers la Seine, clou du spectacle de ce terrain exceptionnel. La terrasse en bois surplombe le jardin et est bordée de massifs de vivaces fleuries et naturelles. Les haies monotones et monospécifiques sont remplacées par des haies champêtres et à leurs pieds des massifs plantés viennent faire du jardin une promenade ponctuée de petits espaces de repos ou de lecture agréable. In this urban context, we were tasked with finding a low-maintenance landscape solution for our client who travels extensively for work. Our award-winning design created a new seating area centered around a fire pit with bench seating and built-in LED lights to create a destination in the landscape. Our design incorporated low-maintenance materials and hearty plantings to create a serene escape from the city that requires very little upkeep. Large planters display seasonal annuals and frame the raised deck area.

Initially engaged to create a transitional space between the extension the clients had to their home, Karl created a garden with various zones that both complement and contrast. Brushed Accoya Decking with Zinc Panels Heavily brushed Accoya suspended over acid-etched zinc galvanised steel forms the decking structure at one end of the house. In order to emphasise the detail within the timber, Karl chose wide deck boards secured with hidden fittings. Over time this timber will weather to a silvery grey which will add a subtle contrast to the blue-grey of the steel. The deck is framed with planting in varying shades of green purple and white to complement the existing Wisteria, and to offer a contrast to the grey tones of the deck and the steel edging. Karl Harrison Said, “This deck is amazing. It’s actually one of my favourite decks that I’ve ever built”
