Smalls Landscaping
The owners wanted to create a backyard entertainment area for family and friends. Privacy, pool, outdoor kitchen, water features, fire pit, fishing, multiple seating areas and lush, colorful landscape areas were all very important. Crafting this design combined the needs and personal style of the client along with functionality in an aesthetically pleasing space.
Studio EMG
The LKPT residence, designed by Eric Green, is an outdoor gathering space defined by its sculpted objects and sustainable plantings. The central feature of the space is a 40" hand polished concrete wall. The wall is joined by a custom concrete firepit, pergola, and fountain. Green incorporated the classic lounge bench and chairs for seating, specified from the artists product line.

The generosity of patio space and specificity of purpose is clearly defined. While the softscape is comforting, it's the bluestone patios that unify the landscape design.
Instyle Habitats
Instyle Habitats designed a modern, minimalist fire pit area using reclaimed timber and Corten steel. Crushed granite was used for easy maintenance and to contribute to the rustic beach style of the property
Montecito Landscape
Pathways paved with crushed stone meander through this incredible space. We planted drought tolerant perennials; nepeta, euphorbia, pittosporum tobira wheelers dwarf, dymondia and lavender. Olive trees and Oaks surround this lovely garden.

Custom created shade sails provide compression and intimacy. Playful steppers were tested for optimal rhythm and flow.

The small urban backyard is designed as an extension from the living area on grade, with the natural gas Napoleon fireplace surrounded by Blue Ledgestone being the focus of the garden from the inside and out. A cast concrete seat supports the fireplace and provides extra seating. A Twombly's Red Japanese Maple and pots of Asparagus Meyers in pots frame the view from the living area. Espaliered Abutilon and Camellias soften the fence on the sides while a hedge of tightly spaced Podocarpus gracillior will grow to screen the rear wall and neighboring house. Blue star creeper grows in between the pavers.
Brad Cox, Architect, Inc.
The custom gas fire pit is built on a raised patio. Natural stone pavers were selected to contrast the walkway and main patio pavers. Both the change in material and the elevated patio distinguish this area as a separate outdoor room--one of seven on this 1/2 acre property.
