Amber Freda Garden DesignThis NYC small backyard landscape design gives a fresh take to what was previously just a patch of bare dirt. It's amazing what the right furniture, stones, plants, and some overhead globe lighting can do to transform a space. This backyard is located on Manhattan's Upper West Side. Secret GardensSecret Gardens is regularly presented with new and challenging designs. This warehouse renovation required a complete overhaul of the internal warehouse courtyard and front entrance. Previous renovations had ‘domesticated’ the building, a poor departure from its warehouse origins. The front was given a sophisticated finish with balconies added onto bedrooms and large garage and entrance doors created with a bronze/copper finish. The internal courtyard pool was modernised, BBQ and cabinetry added and the finishing touches of plants added in pots and hanging from the beams to bring greenery to this industrial space. The end result has enhanced the warehouse appeal with a modern touch.
Yorkshire GardensWithin this garden we wanted to create a space which was not only on numerous levels, but also had various points of interest. This garden is on a slope, but is also very wide.
Firstly, we broke up the space by using rustic sleepers to create several raised beds,as well as steps which lead to differennt zones. This helps to give the garden a more traditional, country edge.
The sleepers were also used to create a winding path through out the garden, marrying together the various areas. The path leads up to the impressive sunburst pergola and circular stone patio. This is the perfect spot to view the whole garden.
At the other end of the garden another pergola sits amougnst a bustling flower bed, and will be used to train vining flowers.
Along the back wall of the garden a raised bed is home to a stunning display of wildflower. This plot is not only a fabulous riot of colour and full of rustic charm, but it also attracts a whole host of insects and animals. While wildflowers looks great they are also very low maintenance.
Mixed gravel has been used to create a variety of texture. This surface is intermittently dotted with colour with lemon thyme, red hot pokers and foxgloves.
Stone has been used to create a warm and welcoming patio area. Flower beds at the front of the garden can be used for veg and other leafy plants.
Overall we have created a country style with a very contemporary twist through the use of gravel, modern shape and structural landscaping.

Amber Freda Garden DesignThis Carroll Gardens rooftop looks like home, sweet home to us with its cozy furniture, built-in ipe planters, string lights, and a pergola. The built-in planters contain Steed hollies, maiden grass, and Japanese forest grass. In the pergola area, black fiberglass planters contain Boston ivy to climb up the pergola posts. Reyes Landscape ConstructionThis Outdoor living space includes DG patio, Flagstone pool decking and walkways, Gas Fireplace, planting in the back and front areas, the wide stair case is finished with flagstone, the side yard area and the parking spaces are Trinity Gravel. Low voltage lighting was installed with pathway lighting and up lights high lighting the olive trees, prunus and water fountain.
Conscious Environments Inc.A ceramic pot is cut in half and mounted to a wall to create a unique container garden in this front entry courtyard.
Lush Custom Gardening CompanyThe colorful plantings in these containers break up the long white wall of the courtyard. Taken immediately after planting, this picture shows how dense the initial planting was in order to have a look of "instant" fullness and color. Lobelia can tend to fade out in the heat of summer, but by the time this happened, the Coleus, Garten Meister Fuchsia, and trailing annuals were all large enough to fill in.
