Castle Building & RemodelingThe homeowners of this 1917-built Kenwood area single family home originally came to us to update their outdated, yet spacious, master bathroom. Soon after beginning the process, these Minneapolitans also decided to add a kids’ bathroom and a powder room to the scope of work.
The master bathroom functioned well for them but given its 1980’s aesthetics and a vanity that was falling apart, it was time to update. The original layout was kept, but the new finishes reflected the clean and fresh style of the homeowner. Black finishes on traditional fixtures blend a modern twist on a traditional home. Subway tiles the walls, marble tiles on the floor and quartz countertops round out the bathroom to provide a luxurious transitional space for the homeowners for years to come.
The kids’ bathroom was in disrepair with a floor that had some significant buckles in it. The new design mimics the old floor pattern and all fixtures that were chosen had a nice traditional feel. To add whimsy to the room, wallpaper with maps was added by the homeowner to make it a perfect place for kids to get ready and grow.
The powder room is a place to have fun – and that they did. A new charcoal tile floor in a herringbone pattern and a beautiful floral wallpaper make the small space feel like a little haven for their guests.

Timothy James InteriorsTraditional panelled bathroom with separate steam shower for our art loving clients in South London. We incorporated the bird graphics to imitate tromp l'oeil and used the colours in the paintings as our palette for the paintwork on the wall panels, windows and ceiling. Santirayware is all Samuel Heath, tiles are from Surface Tiles and paint from Farrow & Ball.
Lincoln Lighthill ArchitectLincoln Lighthill Architect employed several discrete updates that collectively transform this existing row house.
At the heart of the home, a section of floor was removed at the top level to open up the existing stair and allow light from a new skylight to penetrate deep into the home. The stair itself received a new maple guardrail and planter, with a Fiddle-leaf fig tree growing up through the opening towards the skylight.
On the top living level, an awkwardly located entrance to a full bathroom directly off the main stair was moved around the corner and out of the way by removing a little used tub from the bathroom, as well as an outdated heater in the back corner. This created a more discrete entrance to the existing, now half-bath, and opened up a space for a wall of pantry cabinets with built-in refrigerator, and an office nook at the rear of the house with a huge new awning window to let in light and air.
Downstairs, the two existing bathrooms were reconfigured and recreated as dedicated master and kids baths. The kids bath uses yellow and white hexagonal Heath tile to create a pixelated celebration of color. The master bath, hidden behind a flush wall of walnut cabinetry, utilizes another Heath tile color to create a calming retreat.
Throughout the home, walnut thin-ply cabinetry creates a strong contrast to the existing maple flooring, while the exposed blond edges of the material tie the two together. Rounded edges on integral pulls and door edges create pinstripe detailing that adds richness and a sense of playfulness to the design.

She customized these 7″ wall sconces with a Galvanized finish and G38 gooseneck arms.
kbh architects, ltd.New Modern Lake House: Located on beautiful Glen Lake, this home was designed especially for its environment with large windows maximizing the view toward the lake. The lower awning windows allow lake breezes in, while clerestory windows and skylights bring light in from the south. A back porch and screened porch with a grill and commercial hood provide multiple opportunities to enjoy the setting. Michigan stone forms a band around the base with blue stone paving on each porch. Every room echoes the lake setting with shades of blue and green and contemporary wood veneer cabinetry.

The Shower LabThe Simply Bathrooms team created a truly showstopping space here with this family bathroom. Combining together a bespoke double-hinged bath screen in brushed gold from us here at The Shower Lab with Impey Showers wet room and Saneux Poppy Mini wall-hung WC, they made the most of a smaller space. The walls are a mix of Solus Ceramic's Charmed range and their Terrazzo marble tiles and you can also spot the Bard and Brazier's Zingo Sultan floating heated rail.
